Eighteen young ladies from area high schools will compete for scholarships to colleges they will attend in the fall. The young ladies will attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, J.C. Smith, Hampton and Howard Universities, among others. The admission for this event is $5. Thickets may be purchased from contestants and from mem bers of the Delta Alumnae Chapter. The 1997 theme is "I Believe I Can Fly." Contestants I will present their talent along with local group TNT, Reginald McCaskill, and other area artists. The winner of the Little Miss America contest will also be announced. The contestants' dance was choreographed by Aurora Smith, a Delta and a student at Wake Forest University, and Tara Banks, a former Jabberwock contender. Members of the Jabberwock Committee are sorors Annette Howard, Karen Duckett, Yvette Hatcher, Loretta Salter, Robin Ervin, Pam Wagner, Cathy Pool and Mary Smith.
