Little Miss i America Pageant draws crowd t Parents, family, friends and sorors, all turned out in big numbers Sunday afternoon at Shilohian/Saint Peter's Child Care Center to witness the sev enth Little Miss America Pageant sponsored by the Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Eight girls, ages 6-13, were presented in a five-scene pro gram that gave them the oppor tunity to display their speaking ability, modeling, swim suits, talent and question answering ability. Each contestant was sponsored by a member of the sorority, assisted by parents. Princess Allen, grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wynn Sr., was crowned queen. She is a student at Walkertown Middle School. First runner-up was Sierra Douglas, daughter of Jaffey Ferree-White and The Rev. Darrell White. She is a fifth grader at Ibraham Elementary School. The second runner-up was Verinitra Yountz, daughter of Veroble E. Yountz and Patricia Y. Fulton. She is a stu dent at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church School. The third runner-up was Jessica Burton, daughter of Pamela Burton Wright. She is a student at Old Richmond Elementary School. All of the girls will be pre sented at the Jabberwock perfor mance Saturday, March 22, at Anderson Center on the Winston-Salem State University campus. ? MISS AMERICA I The four top winners in the pageant are Sierra Douglas, first runner-up; Princess AUen, queen; Verinitra Yountz, second runner-up; and Jessica Burton, third runner-up. Jltle Miss America contestants were, left to right, Brittany Watson, 'asmine Mickens, Daniella Clark, Sierra Douglas, Princess Allen, ferinitra Yountz, Jessica Burton and Chassidy Manns. Verinitra Yountz, during the tal ent show, did the sign language to Luther Vandross' music "To Reach the Impossible Dream. Sierra Douglas displays her talent with a reading and mini-skit to Maya Angelou's poem "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." Brittany Watson arouses the audi ence with a pantomime to the music "I Love the Lord." Chassidy Mann performs a top donee selection. ?J Little Miss America Crowned i Standing with the crowning contestant are Louise Smith, Andrias Brandon, directors of the pageant; and Margaret Johnson, morning anchor for WXII, who was mistress of ceremonies for the afternoon.
