The conference theme is "Our ^Legacy: Remembering, Renewing, RegeneratingThe focus for the two-day event will be to take a look back at the con tributions of Mack legislative leaders of the fast, to renew and - . t ? Larry Wombla strengthen commitments those leaders made in historically tur bulent times to be a strong voice for the concerns of all citizens, and to generate some "new blood" into the legislative process through the youth who are invit ed to participate in this confer ence. The guest speakers line-up includes Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia's ilth District. McKinney won a 22-county sweeping landslide in 1992. She is most active in civil rights issues, including economic opportuni ties for minority and women owned businesses. McKinney is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is a doc toral candidate at Tufts University. She serves with the Congressional Black Caucus, and is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, among other memberships. The conference format includes workshops, a town hall meeting, corporate reception sponsored by some of North Carolina's biggest industries, a banquet, youth forum, and prayer breakfast, with points of entertainment to enhance the tone of the moment. A highlight at the end of the conference is the awarding of scholarships to the colleges, universities, and some select students. Sen.
