The unity day com mittee included Odell Tillery, : Barbara Edwards, Evelyn Durham, Gloria Broadway, Rutherford Moorman and Arlise McKinney. The block captains kept the residents informed of the meetings and collected the money Tor the block party. There are 127 ; homes in the community. The block captains were assigned to different streets Gloria Broadway and Rita Harris were responsible for residents on Appomattox Drive. Lorraine Barringer, Amatullah Abdus Shakur, Sandra Velaque? and The Joyners helped with Harpers Ferry. Jerlene Adams led Indiana, and Mattie Gore and Pat Miller assisted with Antietam. Richard Littlejohn worked on Antietam Court, while Rutherford Moorman and Spencer D. Glenn served Bull-Run Road. Connie Mosley and Carole Poe led the res idents on Chancellorsville Drive, and Mary Spruill directed resi dents on Chicamauga. Many sponsors came forward to assist in this community effort: Coca-Cola, Office Depot, Kroger, ? Derrick Gilbert, African American consumer marketing representative of Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, was glad to support the families of l " the Stonewall Community. "The youth in our community are very impressionable, and this is our tar get market. We want to support positive images in our communi ties as much ac possible. The youth are our futui Gilbert said. Dorothy Shipp, who has lived in Stonewall for 18 years, was thrilled for the opportunity to come together with her neighbors. "Getting people together during these busy times is a big task," she said. "While I was growing up, it came natural.
