| recently treated to an evening of fun and
; excitement when they were given an oppor
; tunity to watch the Carolina Panthers take
! on the Denver Broncos in an NFL pre-sea
! son football game at Ericcson Stadium in
Charlotte.
The trip was sponsored by Coca-Cola as
! a part of a positive incentive program at the
? Sims Recreational Center to push children
; into positive fun educational program during
? the summer. *

The children chosen to make the trip were
? rewarded out of 100 children who took part
| in the Sims Center Summer Program.
\ In addition to watching the game, several
\ had a chance to have fun taking part in other
) activities. Jacques Bitting (10) and Chris

I style to fit the Pro Football Special occasion.

Tailgate Party,hosted . by

Finley Stadium. Featured
artists and a feast fit for a king will
be the highlight of this event.
The fun is not just for the
adults! There will be activities for
the kids too. At 2 p.m. The
News & Observer's kicks off it's
Kids Pavilion. There will be face
painting, games, and activities for
children of all ages.
Finally, at 4 p.m , the action
begins as the North Carolina A&T
State University Aggies take on
the North Carolina Central
University Eagles at Carter-Finley
Stadium for another unforgettable
football game. Tickets are SIS,

The Aggie-Eagle Alumni Gala
ends this year's festivities. The

Baseball Reunion was held recent
ly at the home of Robert "Buddie"
Phillips on Shattalon Dr. in the
Old Town Community.
Approximately 100 people
attended the gathering, which fea
tured players from the East Bend
Braves, Booneville Dodgers,
Lewisville Sluggers, Tobaccoville
Tigers, Mocksville Braves, Mount
Airy Braves, Stokesdale A's,
Walnut cove Tigers, Winston
Salem Indians, Winston-Salem
Pbnd Giants, Rural Hall Giants
and Pilot Mountain Black Sox.
Participants at the reunion
ranged in age from fifty-year-old
to eighty-two years-old. the orga
nizers of the reunion are: Robert
Phillips,; Elmer Ray Hawkins;
Aldine Myers; Henry Shouse; L B.
Speas; Charlie Payne; Jimmy
Phillips; James "Speedy" Speas;
and Warren Armstrong; The wives
and friends of the Old Timers
were in attendance and furnished
the delicious desert, especially the
homemade banana pudding made
by Alice Porter, sister of Robert
Phillips. Food and fellowship was
enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
Instead of playing baseball, the
bond that brought the group
together, they played horseshoes,
bingo and told old tales about how
well they played baseball.
