Alive After Five
Central Winston-Salem
Association and others will pre
sent Alive After Five, an after
work party with great music, in
downtown Winston-Salem Sept.
18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at
Corpening Plaza. The jazz band
Nightbreeze will perform.
Admission is $1 for adults;
children are admitted free.
Parking will be free at lots at
First and Main, First and Cherry
and on the street. Food and bev

Last year 45 children in North
Carolina died as a result of child
abuse. Beginning Sept. 20,
Exchange/SCAN Child Abuse
Prevention Center will be train
ing volunteers to work with chil
dren trapped in the cycle of child
abuse. The training includes such
topics as child abuse law and rec
ognizing physical and sexual
abuse.

The Forsytfi Center for the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing
(FCDHH) will hold three work
shops during National Deaf
Awareness Week, Sept. 20-27,
1997. The workshops will be held
Sept. 20 at the Red Cross build
ing, 690 Coliseum Dr. in
Winston-Salem. Scheduled work
shops will cover issues designed
to educate and inform persons in
the deaf community.
