Goler Memorial AME Zion church celebrates 116 years of service Goler Memorial AME Zion Church. 630 N Patterson Ave., is gearing up to celebrate it's 116th anniversary, to be held Nov. 7-9. The Church has grown and become part of the community in the vears since it began. ' Under the current leadership of the Rev. Dr. Seth O. Lartey. 15 peo p<e will enter the Ministry of Exhortation at Goler Memorial. Jhese exhorters are Sharon Brown-Walker. Walter Brown. Leon Coleman, Troy Davis, Edward Greene, Robert Jarrett, Donna Maree. Eddie McMillian, Jackie Moore, Elaine Roberts, Frank Stowe, Gelaine Valentine, Cleveland Walker, Linda Walker, and Brain Womble. Each Exhorter will be presented to the community as they deliver a very brief medita tion Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. Also occur ring during this first night of the anniversary celebration will be a memorial service for deceased members. Starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. on Nov. 8, Goler will host a membership drive for the NAACP. The NAACP urgently needs the community's support! Lartey will also present Goler's six newly ordained ministers to the community on Saturday at 6 p.m. They include the Revs. Conita Archie-Hunt (alternating fourth Sundays at 7 p.m.). Louis Hunter Jr. (alternating fourth Sundays at 7 p.m.). Beverly Jackson (alternating first Sundays at 7 p.m.). Beverly McMillian (7 p.m. second Sundays). Pamela H. Phillips (alternating first Sundays at 7 p.m.), Aaron Orr Jr. (third Sundays at 7 p.m.).. and Aaron Orr Jr. (third Sundays, at 7 p.m.). A recep tion will follow immediately after the service. On Sunday morning. Nov. 9. the Children's Choir will provide music as the Sunday School Department is rededicated The guest speaker for the anniversary celebration's 11 a.m. service will be the Rev. Fermin Bocanegra. pastor of Iglesia C'ristiana Wesleyana in Kernersville In addition to being a dynamic preacher and teacher. Bocanegra is also instrumental in the organization of My Brother's Keeper, an outreach ministry that serves the Hispanic population. The anniversary celebration will conclude vv ith a concert Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. Two of Winston-Salem's best known choirs. Mt. Olive Baptist Church Mass Choir, and the Tabernacle of Faith Voices of Triumph Ministering Choir will sing. Come out to hear the anoint ed voices of both choirs.
