Achievers assemble feast for area family
The Pfafftown Chapter of National Youth
Achievers (NYA) met Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at St.
(Stephens Episcopal Church, 810 Highland Ave. The
burpose of this meeting was to fill several
Thanksgiving boxes for a needy family. The NYA
gave their boxes to a single mom with two children
who lives in the Kimberly Park Terrace area . A social
service person was helpful to the group in finding this
family.
The boxes contained a huge turkey, dressing mix.
a variety of can goods, eggs, bread, pie. crust, sweet
potatoes, white potatoes, cranberry sauce, frozen
juices, boxes of macaroni and cheese, butter, spices,
jhredded cheese, marshmallows, hot chocolate,
jaisins, a fruit basket, plastic silverware, cups and
paper plates
The Rev. Clifford Coles, rector of St. Stephen's
Episcopal Church, said a prayer for the food items
before they were boxed and delivered.
Youth Achievers present were Jonathan Henry,
Charnette Tetterton, Kaneisha Connelly, Charlaye
Miller, Varnette Tetterton, Demetria Dove. Candrice
Nolan, Ashely Nolan, and Alveria Dove. NYA
Pfafftown president.
Adult Achievers present were Jeannette T. Lewis,
president of Pfafftown Chapter of National Women
of Achievement; Emma Norman; Ann Moye; Valeria
Dove; and parents Pamela Nolan and Theresa Henry.
The Pfafftown Chapter youth and adult achievers
said they were pleased to make a family happy for
Thanksgiving Day.

Patricia Brown, moderator
of the Presbyterian
Church USA, will speak
ait the fourth annual Advent
Yesper of the Winston-Salem
Presbyterian Interracial Dialogue
on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. at
Parkway Presbyterian Church.
' Brown comes from five genera
tions of Presbyterians, She is a
descendant of a slave woman,
vfho was owned by Maryland
Presbyterians. Now she is the
rjioderator.
I In partnership with her hus
band. she is a businesswoman. She
is an elder from the Cincinnati
Presbytery, and she is completing
Her doctorate in sociology. She is
active in civil rights causes,
spreading her message through a
husy schedule of speaking and
storytelling.
She said she was moved by the
Dialogue's mission to improve
r&ce relations and accepted the
ipvitation to be the Advent Vesper
speaker,
. The Dialogue consists of six
Presbyterian churches:
Dellabrook, Grace, Highland,
Lloyd, Parkway, and Trinity.
