YOi^l Brandy's Own Cinderella Story j r .M?Everything Brandy touches seems to turn to gold. Or should we say platinum? Her first album achieved quadruple platinum status, selling more than 4 million copies. The album also won her two Grammy nominations, an American Music Award and more than 20 other honors. Recently cast in the starring role in Disney's stunning made-for-televi sion movie, "Cinderella," Brandy is no stranger in our living rooms. Since 1996, she has starred as Moesha, a bright, hip teenage girl coping with the pressures and demands of growing up, in UPN's comedy series Moesha. The series marks the 18-year-old's first lead acting role. Born in McComb, Mississippi, Brandy co-starred during the 1993 94 television series on the comedy series Thea. When the show ended she fulfilled a record deal with Atlantic. And her star has been rising ever since. After her debut album was released in September 1994, four of her singles ? "I Wanna Be Down", "Baby", "Sittin* Up in My Room", and "Brokenhearted" ? went platinum. A fifth single, "Best Friend", which she dedicated to her younger brother (actor and singer Ray J) was a top ten hit. She appears on Quincy Jones' album "Q's Jook Joint", singing a remake of Michael Jackson's "Rock With You." Brandy also sang on the soundtrack albums for the mov ies "Waiting to Exhale" and "Set It Off." In Soul Train's first annual "Lady of Soul" awards, she won four awards. She also won the Soul Train Award ? for best new artist of the year. At the second Lady of Soul awards, she was named entertainer of the year. V ? Brandy is proudest of her New York ? Children's Choice Award, which she ? received from the young people of # New York and New Jersey. ? ? She has served as spokesperson for J the Sears/Seventeen magazine Peak ?
