I I Crime-Stoppers International held in
wjM J Kelowna, B.C., Canada,
iT^CrimeStoppers of Winston-Salem/Forsyth
' "County received two awards for productivity in
? 1996. The program competes with other
?programs worldwide in the population
?category 250,000 to 1 million. CrimeStoppers
? of WS/FC received the first place award for
^receiving information that resulted in the most
^'arrests (579). It also received the third place
award for most improved. The awards have
been placed in the lobby of the Public Safety
Center and are available for public viewing at
any time the center is open.
During the same conference, WXII-TV
received the Media of the Year award for 1996
for their production of CrimeStoppers: Justice
Served, which was aired live from the
CrimeStoppers offices March 16, 1996.
Information received during the show resulted
in the arrest of 10 of 14 fugitives shown and
the identification of three subjects wanted for
an armed robbery. Thirty-six calls with
information were received during the show.
CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards of up to
$1,000 for information that leads to the
solution of any unsolved crime, the
apprehension of fugitives, the recovery of
stolen property or the seizure of illegal drugs.

Army secretary visits Glenn Hieh

The Secretary of the U& Army, Togo West,
visited Glens High School recently to con
gratulate the Glenn JROTC Battalion for its bear
perfect score during the annual inspection. He is a
i960 graduate of Adidas Middle School. His
father, Togo D. West, was the principal at Arfiuas
from February 1962 to February 196?. J
West was escorted by the jftOTC brigade
commander, C/COL Keith Hassell of West
Forsyth High School.
