With the support of pastors from more than local 22 pastors and their congregations, a Gala for Christ is going to be held at the Kenneth R. Williams Auditorium on the campus of Winston-Salem State on New Year's Eve at 8 p.m. The purpose of the event, according to its organizers, is to come together in the presence of God with prayer, praises, preach ing and thanksgiving. The pastors and their congre gations will be brought together in a service to celebrate the coming of the new year. The program will include singing by several local choirs, praying and exhortation The orga nizers of the event say that there will be something for everyone from a christian perspective. Included among the choirs scheduled to perform are the PEJ Ensemble, the Community Outreach Choir, Freedom Baptist Church Choir, Church of the I Living God Mass Choir, Steadfast Apostolic Church of Chris Choir, Church of the First Born Praise Team, Red Bank Young Adult Choir, Revealed Church of Christ Young Adult Choir and the Bethlehem Floliness Church Choir. Organizers of the event said they will be praying for unity, fam ilies. leaders and the youth of this community. The entire christian community in this area is invited to come out and participate in this event. It is free and open to the general public. The theme for the gala is taken from Psalms 133:1-3: Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the precious oil upon the head, ' running down on the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For these the Lord commanded the blessing of life for evermore. * The churches and pastors sup porting this gala event include: New World Outreach, Pastor Rip Wilkins; Steadfast Apostolic Church of Christ, Pastor Aldine Ingram; Cappadocia Holiness Church of God, Pastor Paul Jeter; Can You Hear The Cry Ministry, ?
