WSSU standouts Woodbury, Hines to speak at Sims Center in Happy Hills Tory Woodbury and Anthony Hines, two standout football players, will speak at the William C. Sims Recreation Center in Happy Hill Gardens for Black History Month on Friday, Feb. 20. . Woodbury, who spent most of his childhood growing up in Happy Hills, is a 19% graduate of Glenn High School. At Glenn he lettered in football and basketball and led the Bobcats to the State 3-A football playoffs. At WSSU, he became the Rams' starting quarterback last fall as a redshirt freshman. He helped guide the team to a 6-4 record after taking over the starting job midway through the season. A sports marketing major, Woodbury says he wants to obtain a degree at WSSU before embarking upon a career in the NFL. Woodbury played recreational sports at many of the centers in Winston-Salem. They include the Sims Center and Sprague Recreation Center. He lists his role models as his brothers, sister and grandmother. A single black male, Woodbury's ambition is to have a college degree and a pro football contract. Hines is Woodbury's roomate at WSSU. He graduat ed from Carver High School in 1996 after playing for for mer WSSU standout Coach Keith Wilkes. Hines' major at WSSU is sports management. Hines has two brothers wo also played sports at WSSU, Gordon Hines (football) and Carl Hines (basketball). Hines transferred to WSSU from Florida A&M, where he spent one year. He says his role models are his two brothers, Gordon and Carl. Ben Piggott, Sims Center Supervisor, said he is very pleased to have Woodbury and Hines speak to the chil dren at the center about the importance of having good grades to play college sports sports.
