High honors - -- Greensboro chapter of Las Amigas honored as outstanding chapter Three Greensboro Chapter of Las Amiga* members attended the 40th annual Con " ? clave at Virginia Beach, Vs., June 24-28. The Greensboro ? Chapter was chosen as the ' "Most Outstanding Chapter" among 31 chapters. They were selected by a ' panel of judges that reviewed a scrapbook collection of chapter activities for the past year. Joann Williams, national member at large, received third place in the "Outstanding '> Member" category. Other mem *? - bers attending this national event were Agnes W H Rose boro, chapter president and < immediate past national presi dent and Faye P. Stanley, F national vice president. The conclave was packed with busi ness meetings, workshops on volunteering, fund raising, event planning, stress manage ment, planning and economic development for members to enhance personal and professional growth. As a part of the Las amigas partner ship with the National Kidney Foundation a health screening was conducted. Jane E. Smith, President and CEO, National Council of Negro Women, Washington, D.C., was the keynote speaker for the awards luncheon. She challenged the members to make a difference in the com munity-as it moves into the 21st century- Las Amigas, Inc. pre sented NCNW more than $13,000 in cash and pledges for its Capitol Campaign and sev eral Las Amigas members com mitted to NCNW with life memberships. The National President of Las Amigas, Inc. is Linda Lawrence of the Portsmouth, Va. Chapter and the executive director is Mary L. Peeler. The organization's national headquarters is in Charlotte. Additional members of the Greensboro Chapter are: Lola A.
