I : . : ????-. - ? 1 ? 1 1 ? i RThe time when the Chronicle invites you to help in the selection of this year's recipi ents for the "Man and Woman of the Year," "Community Service Award" and the "Life Achievement Awards has arrived. Recipients will be chosen by the Chronicle staff and advisory team. Judging will be based as fol lows: "Man and Woman of the Year" will be persons who have demonstrated outstanding character and could serve as role-models for others. The man or woman of the year could be someone who has triumphed over a per sonal tragedy or someone who has helped an individual to overcome an obstacle in order to obtain a better standard of living. The occurrences should have taken place during the past year. The recipients of the "Com munity Service Award" will be judged based on contributions to the African-American community. The individual must have demonstrated a commitment to service in the African-American community through affil iation with community-service agencies, community-oriented projects or community institutions, i.e., schools, churches, etc. The recipient of the "Life Achievement Award" will be a longtime stalwart in the African American community. He or she will be someone who has, over the years, epitomized what "role model" means. Your nominees should be Piedmont Triad residents. The winners will be recognized in the Feb. 11th Special Edition of the Chronicle and will receive commemorative plaques.
