Mrs. Camie Rosetta Lampkins Bloom, 3915 Tony Drive, Winston
Salem,1 died Feb. 8 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1930; in Winston-Salem to the late Willie
and Mary Lampkins. She was a graduate of Winston-Salem Teachers
College and attended Pleasant Union Progressive Primitive Baptist
Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Deaconess Board
and the Pastor's Aide. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, one sister and four brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Michael) Thomas,
Yolanda (Harold) Hairston and Debra Bloom; one son, Samuel
(Frances) Bloom, Jr.; seven grandchildren, one of the home, Katrina
Bloom; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Lampkins and
Haywood Leach; one sister, Mary Leach; one aunt, Henry Mae James;
two cousins. Evangelist Barbara (Albert) Wardlow and Thomas (Janet)
Leonard; a host of caring nieces, nephews, other relatives and lifelong
friends.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of
the Russell Funeral Home with Elder Victor D. Clark, Sr. officiating.
Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
Russell Funeral Home Directors were in charge of the arrangements.
BROOMFIELD
Mr. Leroy Edward Broomfield, 211 Shawnee Street, Winston-Salem,
died Feb. 12 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born in York, SC, on Aug. 24, 1925. He was a retired
employee of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a truck drive after
35 years of service. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia N.'
Mixion.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Hazel Woody Broomfield of
the home; nine children, Teresa O. Nelson, Larry B. Nelson, Tonie O.
Nelson, Constance D. (Curtis Glenn) Nelson, Lisa N. Moser, Bernard,
Lisa Williams, Sharon Watson and Jermaine Watson; eleven grandchil
dren, Brandyn M. Nelson, Alisia M. Nelson, Chesnic M. Moser, Jordan
M. Moser, Asianna M. Nelson and Aaryn M. Glenn; one great grand
daughter, Aaveri N. Nelson and two foster children, Fatima Funderburk
and Keith Funderburk; two sisters-in-law, Betty W. Bailey and Gloria J.
, Nelson; four brothers-in-law, William J. Nelson, Darnell C. Nelson,
I Terry L. Nelson and Jerry L. Nelson; a host of other relatives and many
I friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Rus
U sell Funeral Home with Castor Essie McCullough officiating. Burial fol

W Mr. Daniel Cain, 1909 East Third Street, Winston-Salem, died Feb.
I 7 at his residence, following a period of illness.
He was bom on Feb. 3, 1938, in Bishopville, SC, and had lived in the
city for forty years. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed with
Carolina Escavators Company.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Thompson Cain of the home; four
daughters, Dannie Mae Galloway, Rebecca Cain, Deborah Speas and
Penny small all of Winston-Salem; one son, Kerry Thompson of the
city; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren;' three sisters, Rachel
Abrahams of Brooklyn, NY, Rebecca Cain Perry and Annie Lee Cain
both of Bishopville, SC; one brother, John Cain of Brooklyn, NY; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the
Russell Funeral Home with the Rev. Konnie G. Robinson officiating.
Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. Russell Funeral Home Direc

Ms. Beverly Irene Dorsey, 4561 Styersferry Road, Winston-Salem,
died Feh. 5 at her residence following a period of illness
She was born on Nov. 4, 1944, in Alton, Illinois, to the late Mr. and
Mrs Sylvester and Mildred R. Brown Dorsey. Beverly was a dedicated
member of the Pleasant Asbyssinia Baptist Church and was employed
as a foreman at Owens-Illinois, INC for over thirty-four years
She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn L. Dorsey and daughter, Jes
sica N. Dorsey both of Atlanta; three brothers, James Dorsey of San
Diego, Calif., Tommy Dorsey of Winston-Salem, and Robert Dorsey of
Atlanta; two sisters, Phyllis White and Debra Houston both of Atlanta;
a very dear and devoted friend, Dorothy Gardner Fulton of the cjjjy;
other relatives and friends ri
Funeral services were held on Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at Forest Chapel
Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial
Gardens, Atlanta.

JOHNSON
Mr. Johnny Webster Johnson, 1903 Maryland Avenue, Winston
Salem, died Feb. 8 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born on June 13, 1927, in Newberry, SC, to Pearl Wise and
Whiskhom Johnson. He had lived in Winston-Salem for more than 60
years. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a
veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired employee of the
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and the Bahnson Com
pany.
He is survived by two sons, Derry Johnson and George (Margaret)
Johnson both of the city; two granddaughters, Tracie Hadley of Char
lotte, and Faith Johnson of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Thomas
Hunter of Winston-Salem; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 12 at noon in the Chapel of the
Russell Funeral Home with Reverend Melvin Aikens officiating. Burial
followed at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury.

MALLOY
Mrs. Hattie Mae Simmons Malloy, 841 Haywood Street, Winston
Salem, died Feb. 7 at her residence unexpectedly.
She was born on November 28, 1924, in Durham, to the late Willie
and Pauline Dillard Simmons. She moved to Winston-Salem at an early
age. Mrs. Malloy was a member of the Middle Fork Christian Church
and was a retired employee of the Forsyth Memorial Hospital (Forsyth
Medical Center).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Johnnie Mal
loy Sr. who died on April 16, 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Barr; three sons and their
spouses, Johnnie (Helen) Malloy, Willie (Thomasine) Malloy and
Robert (Brenda) Malloy; 12 grandchildren, Vernell Ingram, Dexter
Bart, Johnnie Malloy, III, Darrin Malloy, Regina Barr, Sean Malloy,
Renee Malloy, Michael Adams, Leah (Christopher) Allen, Robert Mal
loy, Jr., Jennifer Malloy and Willie Malloy, Jr.; five great grandchildren,
Terry Ingram, Tyrone Ingram, Anthony Little, Cory Allen and Tory
Allen all of Winston-Salem; one sister, Irene Simmons of Asheboro,
NC; one brother-in-laW, Nelson Malloy, Sr. of Winston-Salem, one sis
ter-in-law, Juanita Boone of Washington; and a host of other optatives

faithful servant James Howard Estes and said well done my son. He was'
born October 30, 1916 in Walnut Cove, North Carolina. He was pre--'
ceeded in death by his parents Maggie Hairston Estes and James Mari
on Estes and also by a sister Mary Ruth Wilson, %
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 58 years, Thelma."

with Brick Layers and Allied Craftman Local #2, Augusta Georgia. !
He was a lifetime member and an outstanding Layman in the;.

copal Church in Walnut Cove, NC. where he was Secretary of the Sun?!

dent of the Junior Church and a choir member. Upon moving to Aiken,';
he became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in 1936 and'j
since that time gave continous service until his health failed. At Wesleyj
United Methodist Church he was Class Leader, Steward, the first Pres
ident of the United Methodist Men, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary
and Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School, Associate Lay
Leader and member of the Trustee Board. He was also chairperson of! ,
the Administrative Board, Chairperson on Evangelist, Adult and Young;
Adult Coordinator, Adult Sunday School Teacher,and Orangeburg Dis-;
trict Trustee. i *
In addition to his many church affiliations he was a member of the-.
Christian Community Club, the NAACP, the Bricklayers Local No. 2 of?
Georgia, the Retired Gents Club. A devoted member of the Cemetary?
