NOTEBOOK from page 3 Davit National Football League. Harkness is a 1976 graduate of Smith, where he played on the offensive line and was co-captain of the Golden Bulls during his senior season. Davis took over at I, ===== Smith after the resignation of Daryl McNeil two sea sons ago. After struggling to a 2-8 mark and a 1-6 record during his first sea son at the helm, Davis led the Golden Bulls to a 6-4 record this past season and a 3-3 league mark. How ever, he was relieved of his duties on Jan. 29 by President Dorothy C. Yancy. Richardson, former Bears' assistant, named Livingstone's new coach Livingstone College, which was left without a head football coach when Rudy Abrams left the pro gram to take over at North Carolina Central, hired one of Abrams' former assistants as its new coach. . The Blue Bears named Greg Richardson, former defensive coordinator under Abrams, to succeed his former mentor. Richardson was part of the Livingstone staff from 1994-96 and served his final two seasons under Abrams. A 1974 North Carolina Central graduate, Richardson was an assis tant head coach at the Univ. of Buffalo from 1992-94. At BCSR press time, Richardson was in the process of assembling his staff. St. Augustine's con tinues domination in men's, women's track St. Augustine's men's and women's indoor track rv, teams recently captured championships at the CIAA indoor track and Field Championships in Richmond, Va. The Lady Falcons suc cessfully defended their 1998 indoor track champi onship. SAC captured eight individual events in the meet and also took second place in the mile relay. The Lady Falcons scored 103 points, far out distancing Livingstone, which was second with 52 points. Florencia Hunt captured the. women's Outstanding Athlete Hon ors after taking first place in the Mile and 800-meter runs. Adriane Sims took first place in the High Juimp, with a leap of six feet en route to being named Outstanding Field -Athlete. . On the men's side, St. Augustine's had little trou ble capturing yet another league track champi onship. The Falcons scored 161 points, nearly three times as many as its closest competitor. Shaw was second with 54 points. Frederick Adongo added to his growing list of domination in long dis tance running, winning the 3,000 meters and the Mile. Adongo earned Outstand ing Track Athlete Honors. His teammate, Dane Magloire, received Out standing Field Athlete honors by taking first place in the Triple Jump and finishing second in the Long Jump. ? n ? *3 ? - .. * % 1 ?
