RELIGION , I New World Cappadocia Outreach Center and pastors celebrate anniversaries Special IP THE CHRONICLE "How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" That could be the cry of the ? parishioners of New World Cap padocia Outreach Center. The church, at 245 Melody Kane, will celebrate its first <?'anniversary and also the first ;. anniversary of its co-pastors, , Melvin "Rip" Wilkins and Paul E. 1 Jeter. There will be a week of j anniversary services beginning , July 11. Wilkins is married to Marilon Law Wilkins. They are the parents of five Children, and they have four grandchildren. Jeter is married to Vanessa Wilson Jeter, and they have four children and two grand children. Pastors Wilkins and Jeter merged their congregations a year ago to form their current church. Before that time Wilkins was pas tor of New World Outreach Cen ter and Jeter was pastor of Cap padocia Holiness Church. However, the two came togeth er in an effort to reach the masses So far the combined congregation has been blessed to see God's goodness bestowed upon it. "With his pastoral background and my background in outreach, we decided to come together in a show of unity and fellowship," Wilkins said. "Both congregations were behind it, and so far it has been very peaceful and uplifting." Mercy Seat Holiness Church and its pastor. Bishop T.R. Rice, will be the guests July 11 at 4 p.m. On Monday at 7 p.m., Dr. Seth O. Lartey and congregation from Goler Memorial AME Church will be in charge of the service. Pastor John Parks and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church mil visit July 13 at 7 p.m. On the night of July 14, the Rev. Ronnie Robin son and Union Chapel Baptist Church will conduct the service. On the night of July 15, New Gen eration Praise and Worship Center and Pastor Melvin Wilkins Jr. will be the guests. Piney Grove Baptist Church and Pastor James Linville will be in charge of the service on July 16. The anniversary will con clude on July 17 when Pastor Bobby Wilson and the Mt. Cal vary Deliverance Cathedral of Oxford will jbe in charge of the ser vice. "We are inviting the public to come out and be a part of these services," Wilkins said. "We want individuals and churches to come out and help us celebrate. I think , this union shows that churches and families can work together to out reach. That's what is needed in the world today - to reach out to those that need help and bring them into the fold." ' In addition to Wilkins and Jeter, the church has an outreach pastor, Calvin Ogiesby, who is also a vital part of its ministry. "We arc all workers together for the uplifting of God's people," Wilkins said. f 25 Years of Trivia Contest ???? The Olympic GamA Ushers Convention to celebrate 50th year Special IP THE CHRONICLE The General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina Inc. Ushers Convention will cel i ' ebrate its SOth year in its annual session July 9-10 at First Cos- - mopolitan Baptist Church, 1515 Cross Link Road, Raleigh. Dr. W.B. Lewis is pastor. On Friday the convention will open at 8 a.m. with registra tion. An outstanding program I will feature special classes for j ushers and church' nurses. On ; Friday evening the 50th year I banquet will be held on the cam ! pus of Shaw University at 7. The ; early founders of the GBSC ? Ushers Convention will be hon ??? ored. The banquet speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Oscar Burrell J. Burson, pastor of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. He is a son of North Carolina and one of the early founders of the N.C. Ushers Convention. He was a pastor in North Carolina for many years. On Saturday at 9 a.m., the ushers will have their historic 50th Year Jubilee March. Orga nizers hope to see 5,000 ushers dressed in uniform. Organizers are asking all pastors and minis ters to come and lead their ush ers in the march of celebration and praise. The 50th year ser mon will be delivered by the U V Rev. Dr. Arlee Griffin, pastor of Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Griffin is a native of Elizabeth City and was a pastor in North Carolina for several years. During the convention, ush ers who have served their churches for more than 50 years will be recognized. Officials are asking that each church and its ushers bring a special love offer ing for Arthur Williams, the first president of the GBSC Ushers Convention and the last original founder of the convention liv ing. Beulah Baptist Church will dedicate new facilities Special to THE CHRONICLE Beulah Baptist Church, 13S2 N. Trade St., will celebrate, dedi cate and consecrate its new sanctu ary and education and day-care facility July 11, starting with a rib bon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. There will be tours of the building from 2 until 5 p.m. The evenipg program will start at 6 p.m., with the Rev. R.L. Watlington of Phillips Chapel Baptist Church as the guest speaker. There will be guest preachers throughout the week at 7 o'clock nightly. Monday night, the Rev. John C. Parks of New Hope Mis sionary Baptist Church will speak; Tuesday night, the Rev. Sheldon McCarter of Cleveland Avenue # i Rev. L. Brute Ford and wife Tanya Ford > Softball league champs Christian Church; Wednesday night, Dr. J. Ray Butler of United Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church; Thursday night, the Rev. Charles W. Leak of Solid Rock Baptist Church; and Friday night, the Rev. Samuel Cornelius of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. There will be special groups and choirs each night. Some of the guests will be: the First Calvary Baptist Church Choir, the Union Baptist Church Choir, the New Unity Missionary Baptist Church Choir, E. C. Vision and the Beulah Baptist Church Choir.
