dedicate expanded facilities
Special to The Chronicle
Catholic Social Services will
have a dedication and open house
of its expanded facilities at 627 W.
Second St. in Winston-Salem on
Sunday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Bishop William Curlin will
lead the dedication and blessing
of the facility from 4:45 to 5:30

The new facility is next to the
present two buildings that house
programs for the Triad area via
Hand to Hand, Host Homes,
Casa Guadalupe, Adoption Ser
vices and Core Services.
The new facility was an exist
ing home built in 1917. In 1924 a
middle story was inserted between
'? the ground floor and the existing
: ^ -
second story. The historic build
ing was completely upfitted under
the direction of Dick EglofT of
Egloff Building Co. Inc. Most of
the work was completed by a
father and son team (Anton and
Martin Bevis) that moved to the
Triad area from England. Major
construction had to be completed
by jacking up and leveling the
foundation, new walls, flooring,
HVAC and electrical. Numerous
companies from the Triad area
donated either the time of their
personnel, monies or furniture.
A series of major capital cam
paigns were put together, and
more that $300,000 was raised by
the Triad community to pay for
the building and complete the
renovations.
Catholic Social Services pro
vides services to more than 1,500

individuals and families in the
Triad community, regardless of
religious affiliations. -'
