The children, their parents, and neighbors enjoyed a barbecue supper before seeing the produc tion. which was the culmination of a week-long Music Camp held at Latham School, Green Street Unit ed Methodist Church, and Christ Moravian Church. Leadership was also provided by the staff of the Winston-Salem Churches in Ministry summer youth program I m/ and by MotherRead/FatherRead ol Forsyth County. The Director of Music was April Johnson, the Art Intern ai Green Street Church. Ms. Johnsor is a rising Junior at WSSU, major ing in Art Education. She pre pared and the chorus, assisted by Nathaniel Gales, Mary Ann Kong, and Theresa Kong. Caroline Daugherty supervised the children in stage and costume prepara tion?assisted by Sarah Smith, the summer Hispanic Services Intern for the Winston-Salem District, who will enter Duke Divinity School in the Autumn. Ministers at Green Street and Christ Church es coordinated both the Music f Camp and a Vacation Bible School held simultaneously for kinder garteners through rising second t graders. For kindergartners i through second-graders, Judy Todd directed a simultaneous Vacation Bible School, assisted by volunteers from the churches and by Churches in Ministry staff. This multi-agency collabora tion reflects the community spirit growing in the West Salem neigh borhood. a multi-racial communi ty between Old Salem and Ard more.
