to go through the conference
season without a defeat after
downing Reynolds in their pre
vious battle. Charles Jackson
led the team with 21 points and
10 rebounds. Tyler Boardman
scored 17 points and handed
out eight assists. John Dobbins
scored 10 points and grabbed
12 rebounds.
"I knew it would be diffi
s cult to go undefeated in the
conference," Fuller said. "I am
pleased that the kids were able
to win the Central Piedmont
Conference. They played hard
all year."
West finished the season
15-5. The team captured the
conference title by defeating
North Davidson. Davie County
and South Rowan in their
games leading up to the season
finale.
The Titans defeated South
Rowan 66-49 behind a bal
anced attack led by Lyle
Musumeci's 17 points and five
rebounds. John Dobbins was
next with 14 points and Ave
rebounds, followed by LeRon
Buey with 10 points and 10
rebounds. Tyler Boardman
dished out eight assists.
In their next game, the
Titans captured an 88-57 win
over Davie County. J.J. Cook
and Dobbins led a balanced
attack with 17 points each.
Charles Jackson contributed
15 points and 10 rebounds.
Musumeci and Boardman
scored 10 points each.
^Against North Davidson,.
Dobbins scored a career-high
32 points, handed out 10
assists, grabbed 10 rebounds
and had five steals in an 86-49
victory. J.J. Cook scored 18
points, all in the first half, and
Boardman scored 14 points
and had 10 assists.
But after a 10-day layoff.
the Titans couldn't follow
through in the second half to
defeat Reynolds. West turned
the ball over 14 times, includ
ing six in the fourth quarter,
and also missed eight free
throws.
"This was a great season
for me to learn as a coach,"
said Fuller, who played at
Wake Forest. "1 picked up
some intangibles that will help
me in the future. I aspire to
coach college basketball, but
there can't be anything more
enjoyable than high school
basketball. Forsyth County has
some great teams and I look
forward to next season."
West had many highlights
during its season. Boardman. a
freshman, scored 300 points in
19 games for a 16-point aver
age and averaged Ave assists
in conference play. Dobbins
scored 200 points in 10 games
and had eight rebounds per
game in conference play.
Jackson, a sophomore,
averaged 13.7 points in confer
ence play.
Coach Bill Hayes, head football coach at North Carolina A AT, stopped by Atkins Middle
School last Friday to talk with eigth-grade students as part of the school's Black History
Month celebration. Hayes, who brought along several of his football players, encouraged
the students to do well academically and to prepare for the future by being good citizens.

quarter rally helped them to
overtake the Titans.
"1 was very proud of the
guys for not giving in after
being down by 15 and fighting
back into the game to pull out
the victory," said Jeff Overby,
Reynolds' coach. "Our pres
sure defense was exceptional."
Brad Harris, who scored a
game-high 24 points, led the
fourth-quarter rally. He scored
11 of his points in the fourth
quarter and finished the game
with five 3-point field goals.
Joe Fulp played his usual
steady game on the inside for
the Demons, scoring 20 points
and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Danny Harris scored 10 points.
The Demons, whose roster
was cut to eight players for
their final three games, won
their final six games of the sea
son. They got three wins in the
final week, which culminated
in their victory over West. On
Tuesday night, the Demons
defeated Davie County 84-74.
Brad Harris led the way with
20 points and Fulp added 18.
. Fulp also had 12 rebounds to
lead the Demons' inside game.
"I was extremely proud of
the guys for the way they han
dled the pressure at the end (of
the game)." Overby said. "We
played much better defense
against a good-shooting Davie
team this time. Our chemistry
and composure were the keys
to the win."
The next night the Demons
took a 70-44 victory over
North Surry. Fulp led the way
with 21 points and nine
rebounds. Brad Harris scored
13 points and came up with
three steals.
"This was a nice break
away from conference play
and it was good to get some
playing lime for guys who
have been working hard and
showed positive attitudes in
practice," Overby said. "As a
team, we played well and that
was important heading into
last Friday night's game
against West Forsyth,"
The Demons, who finished
Ihe season with a 16-6 record
and 8-2 mark in the Central
Piedmont Conference, had 12
assists in their win over North
