Wallace Jr. was installed as the seventh pastor of Spencer Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The service was held at Spencer Memorial's sister church. Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church. The installation began with the arrival of Wallace and his family in a chauffeured white limousine. Members of the Search and Call Committee of Spencer Memorial Christian Church served as escorts for Wallace and his family. A recep tion followed the ceremony. It was clear throughout the day that the Lord had orches trated this "marriage" between Spencer Memorial and Pastor Wallace. The number seven in biblical terms means comple tion. Spencer Memorial is now complete! The church has labored for more than two years since the untimely death of Pas tor Sandy Witherspoon Jr. in February 2(XX). But the congre gation stayed together, prayed together and labored together to find a new shepherd for the church. Dr. Edgar A. Wallace Jr. was called as interim pastor in May 2001. He paved the way for the arrival of Pastor Garland A. Wallace Jr., who began his pas torship in January 2002.
