Special Recognition Award Winners p Garland Scarsboro of Food Lion presents Special Recognition Awards to Leon Hargrave, presi dent of the Lexington NAACP, and Cheryl Stewart. The Lexington NAACP was hon ored for its efforts in setting a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday passed in Davidson County. Stewart is a community leader in the Maryland Apartments neigh borhood. Alderman Fred Terry is presented his Special Recognition Award by Jodria Bujford of BB&T. Terry was honored for his work in his Southeast Ward, the most racially diverse ward in the city. Charlene Curtis, the head coach of the women's basketball team at Wake Forest University, is pre sented her award by Sam Davis, The Chronicle's sports editor. Curtis is one of a very few black head coaches at a top division school such as WFU.
