Mineral Home (fmo.1946 724-1561 HAINES Mr. Clevell Foster Raines departed this life for eternal rest on Jxriy 24 tw Forsyth Medical Center. - He was born May 14, 1912, to the late Charlie and Dora Raines. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 41 years of service. Before declining health, he was a faithful member of Goler Metro politan AMH Zion Church, where he served in the Woman's Home ;arjd Overseas Missionary Society. Fellowship Club, and as former ^chairman of the Building Fund and trustee emeritus. He was a for mer member of the Phoenix Club and a member of Salem Lodge 139 F.H.A. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved flowers. Two sisters, one brother and three nephews preceded him in death. - Cherishing his memory are: his wife. Lillie Mae; daughter. He was a member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church and was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Factory 64. with 40 years of service. * He was preceded in death by three stepchildren. Doris Smith. Dennis Whisonant and James Whisonant; and a brother. Willie -Fleming Ashford. He leaves to mourn: his wife of 46 years. Mattie Mae Whisonant Ashford of the home; a stepson. Owen Hayward (Flavella) Whiso nant; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. BANNER Mr. Archie Banner. 1214 Sumerset Street, Philadelphia, Pa., for merly of Winston-Salem, passed away on July 18 in Philadelphia. He was bom in Winston-Salem on Feb. 7, 1926. and had resided in Philadelphia since 1954. He was of the Baptist faith and was a vet eran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a retired employee of the city of Philadelphia. He is survived by: one son, Arthur "Butch" Bradford (Geral dine); one daughter, Sharon Jackson; other relatives and friends. BOWMAN Mr. Miles Anthony Bowman, 786 Foxwood Place, Winston Salem, passed away July 23 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia, unexpectedly. He was born on April 25, 1974, to Cynthia Bowman and Tony Lee Bowen. He was a longtime member of Macedonia Holiness Church of God of the Apostolic Faith. He attended Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and later lived in Gastonia to pursue a professional sales career. 9 He was preceded in death by his grandmother. Pensicola Bow man. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Cynthia Bowman of the home; his father, Tony Lee Bowen; two sons, Javonte Reddick and Miles Anthony Bowman Jr.; three daughters, Shakera Bowman, Barbara Banks. CHAMBERLAIN Mr. Martin Alfonzo Chamberlain, 1202 Maple Ave., Apex, N.C., passed away on July 14 at Western Wake Medical Center in Apex. He was a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and resided in New York, N.Y., for more than 80 years before moving to Apex in December of 2001. He was a retired employee of the City of New York, Munici pal Services Division. He is survived by: his wife, Pearl Moore Chamberlain of the home: two sons. John Chamberlain of Paris. France, and Bill Cham berlain of Apex; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. CHISHOLM Mrs. Mocille Elizabeth Roberts-Chisholm, known to family and friends as "Sister." 1328 Belews Street, Winston-Salem, passed away on July 23 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was a native and resident of Winston-Salem, born on Dec. 21, 1935, to the late Mason Weaver Roberts Sr. and Ruth Self Roberts. She was a member of Mt. Zion Memorial Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Atkins High School, and attended Winston-Salem State University and Forsyth Technical College. She was a licensed practical nurse for more than 35 years and was formerly employed at Pellcare Nursing Home. She was preceded in passing by her husband. Roosevelt Chisholm. She is survived by: two daughters. Cassandra Ann Roberts and Tywanda Robert Parker; one adopted daughter, Ishia Bunch; two granddaughters, Erika N. Parker and Ikia D. Parker; one brother. Mason W. Site, was bom on July 23, 1973, in Asheville to Alethia Bowman and Marion Gamble. She attended St. Peter's World Outreach Cen ter, was a graduate of North Forsyth High School, Class of 1993, and attended child development classes at the Career Center. She was employed at the Small Wonders Learning Center and was a substitute teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System until March 2002. Left to cherish her memory are: her mother, Alethia Bowman of the home, and her father, Marion Gamble of Asheville; a sister, Jacquetta Gamble; a brother, Jaimz Bowman of the home; her niece, ZaQura Gamble; nephew, DaQwan Gamble of the home; paternal grandmother, Mary Gamble of Asheville; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was bom in Winston-Salem on May 31, 1935, to Percy and Winnie Stephens. He united with Mount Pleasant Missionary Bap tist Church at an early age and was co-founder of the Henry S. Lewis Cathedral Choir. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by: his wife, Jacqueline of Detroit; a daughter, Stephanie Carson of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Terrance and Anthony Stephens, both of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; five aunts, Madalene Rush, Rosalie Young, Carrie Neal, Martha Riley and Dorothy Witherspoon; one uncle, George (Ruth) Glenn, all of Winston-Salem; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
