Winston-Salem, passed away March 2 at Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was a native of Richland County, Colum bia. S.C.. born on Jan. 9. 1930. to the late John and Helen Allen. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she joined under the late Rev. Dr. A.H. McDaniel in the 1940s. She was a member of the Sunday school, the Good Samaritan Hostess Club and the A.H. McDaniel Loyal Auxiliary. Ms. Allen was a devoted homemaker. Dorothy is survived by and leaves to cherish her memories: several cousins, a devoted care-giver, Ms. Mildred Raye; other relatives and friends. BRADDY Mrs. John David Braddy, 5680 Bethania Road, Pfafftown. passed away March 5 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte. ' "J.D." as he was affectionately called, was born on April 3, 1920, to the late Thomas Hill and Rosa Bell Braddy. He was a retired construction contractor. Mr. Braddy lived in Washington, D.C. for 60 years. He was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church in Washington, DC for more than 50 years, where he served on the Deacon Board. Board of Trustees, and several other committees. He returned to Winston-Salem in 2001 due to his failing health. He reunited with Piney Grove Baptist Church, where he was ini tially baptized as a youth. He was married to the late Jeannette Payne Braddy. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having serv ing in World War II. He is survived by a son, Joseph Payne (Glendora) of Char lotte, NC; a daughter and son-in-law with whom he lived, Shirley P. NC, passed away Feb. 2.1 in San Diego, Cali fornia. He was born on April 4, 1963 in Winston-Salem. NC to Calvin Carter and Algine Grey Carter. He was a graduate of Park land High School and was of the Baptist faith. Sterling was a 10 year veteran of the United States Navy. He attained the rank of Yeoman Second Class Petty Officer. He "received the Navy Achievement Medal for exceptional professional accomplishment in the superior performance of his duties while serving as a mem ber, of the Administrative Office for Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron. He received the Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Ribbon, Battle "E" Ribbon. He was appointed a Division Career Counselor for the Administrative Division. Sterling had many high honors and accomplishments. He completed a Legal Clerk course in Military Justice finishing in the top ten percentile of hisQclass. North Carolina y passed away March 2 at Forsyth Medical Center. \ Mrs. Jenkins was born on May 5, 1919 in Henry County. VA to Thomas and Melinda Amos. Mrs. Jenkins was retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. She was a faith ful, lifelong member of the St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Jenkins was involved in many church activities: Vice President of the Deaconess Board, Women Class Sunday School Teacher, Ruth Missionary Group, Emeritus Administrator of the Cooperative Management and Association Supervision, Pastor's Aid Society, Past President Women's Day Committee. PARKER Mrs. Clarice Lucille Holt Parker, formerly of West 20th Street, Winston-Salem, NC, passed away March 6 at Argoretum in Greensboro, NC, after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. , Mrs. Parker was born on Aug. 2,*1919 in Springfield, Massa chusetts to John Calvin and Odessa Manuel Holt. The family later moved to Salisbury, NC, where Mrs. Parker grew up. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Fred D. Parker; two sisters, Aileen Holt Peterson and Verna Holt Thompkins and a brother, Harold C. Holt. Mrs. Parker taught French and English for many years in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth Schools, incluttmg Atkins, Paisley, Anderson High School, Southwest Junior High and also at William Penn High School in High Point, NC. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Livingston College in Salisbury, NC and a mas ter's degree in French from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She also studied French in Besancon, France, and Quebec, Canada. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. INC. She is survived by a daughter. Karen L. In the early 70's, he sang with the Sensational Ringing Stars and he maintained a very dear relationship with them until he received his call to come home. She was born on June 24, 1925 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Geral dine Littlejohn and Thomas Bell. In the 1950's she moved to New York where she stayed until she returned to Winston-Salem in 1993. While in New York, she worked at Spofford Juvenile Cen ter in the Bronx, until her retirement in the 1980's. She also attended and was a faithful member of the Union United Methodist Church in Brooklyn where she sang on the choir and served on several committees. She leaves a legacy of love to all that knew her. To cherish her memory is a loving and devoted daughter, Bar bara A. Oliver; two faithful sons, James L. Ross (Gwen) and Melvin J. Smith University and later attended Win ston-Salem State University. Harold was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and mem ber of the Senior Adult Choir.
