New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church donates belts to Parkland SPECIAL TOTHE CHRONICLE Parklarid High School (and other schools in the Winston Saleni/Forsyth County system) has a new dress code that includes no sagging pants/slacks and no showing of underwear. The administration at Parkland High School is determined to enforce this policy, hut after insisting that students pull pants up. there was no way to keep them up. The principal and assistant principals resorted to using ropes as belts to hold the pants up at school. Eventually, a few bells were purchased and students were allowed to use these until they could purchase belts, but the demand was much greater than the supply. The pastor and official board of New Jerusalem Baptist Church were notified of the dilemma and inquired if they could be of any help. When informed of the des perate need for belts, the church purchased two cases of belts for the school. Pastor Samuel J. Cornelius. Deacon James Paul. Trustees Alphonso Witherspoon and Clif ford Little presented these belts to the principal and his staff. The group was privileged to see the first student to benefit from the church's gift during the presenta tion. Cornelius and Paul said that they were glad to be able to par ticipate in this endeavor because it will serve to enhance the self esicem of young black men.
