Deadline for subir&tions Motfmys at 5 p.m. Church sponsors talent contest SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Holy Trinity Full Gospel Baptist Church sponsored games and a 'Trinity Idol" talent contest on Dec. 2 1 at Holy Trinity Post 1 87, which is at the church.. Desiree Sims won the musical chairs for kids in first grade and younger. The second game involved throwing beanbags to an object that was moving on the stage. A guest won the moving target game, which was for kids in grades 2-5. Children in grades 6-12 played Fear Factor at the Post. In round one, children crawled under pews, rode a scooter around the church, picked up trash off the stage and put on a .frozen T-shirt. In round two, children rolled dice to determine how many scoops of soup and sar dines they would have to eat. Jakia Rynie won the event. She received a framed certificate and a $50 gift certificate to the mall. The first runner-up got a certificate and a portable CD player. The 'Trinity Idols" had two con testants to sing, Brandon Jeter and Joe-Joe Miller; two contestants to dance, Brittany Johnson and Anto nio Howell; and one contestant to rap, Akeem Howell. The winner, Brittany Johnson, won a framed cer tificate and a $100 gift certificate to the mall, and will be featured at Holy Trinity Post 187 in January. Runner-up Akeem Howell received a $25 gift certificate to the mall. Post 1 87 had special door prizes. The first two prizes were DVDs given to Denise Smith and Miss Brooks. Parks Hash Corneliu Linville Samuels I 1 Gray Goler 's Spiritual Renewal Services gain momentum SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Goler Memorial AME Zion Qhurch will hold its annual I Days of Spiritual Renewal services Jan. 1-21 at 7 p.m. The purpose is to provide the people of God with spiritual renewal, social development, a dynamic worship experience and a holy vision for the new year. One of the benefits is that more than 20 churches will come together for spiritu al worship, crossing denomi national and racial lines. Proceeds from past servic es have helped to purchase rice for a Liberian orphanage and to help build four Habitat for Humanity homes. A dona tion of $5,000 was made in 2003 to the United Way of Forsyth County to help^jfund the 34 community agencies that United Way serves. Unit ed Way will again benefit from these services in 2004. This will be the Stellar Awards' first time in the "Lone Star State" of Texas at George R. Brown Convention Center. Some of the top talents from traditional and contem porary gospel in spiritual tan dem with stars from the world of entertainment will be on hand to celebrate gospel music's finest. The all-star line-up of performers includes Mary Mary, the "Prince of Praise" Byron Cage. Hezekiah Walker, Cece Winans, Vickie Winans, Tonex featuring Sheila E., Dietrick Haddon, Karen Clark Sheard, Natalie Wilson and S.O.P., Rizen, Darius Brooks, and Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's. . Leading the pack with nominations are Deitrick Haddon and Vicki Winans, vying for the most prestigious award in gospel music.
