Bailers from page Bi like a football team than a basket ball squad after they added two of Parkland High School's best offensive linemen. One of the line men happened to be Mustang star Tim Bess. With the And 1 Classic team clinging to a 24-20 lead in the sec ond quarter. And 1 Classics player Cednc "Graham and Bess began to talk a little junk to each other, fol lowed by a huddle of players at mid-court. That's when McCorkle decided that he was going to can cel the game. G-Unit 41, Warriors 32: The game of the day was between the talented G-Unit squad and the high-flying Warriors, led by Bran don Ross and various other Carv er bailers. The G-Unit proved to be too much for the Warriors as G Unit cruised to a 41-32 victory on Saturday. "1 liked the way we played defense today," G-Unit head coach Altonio "PK" Wright said. "I thought we came out with a good defensive game plan, it worked to perfection, and we finally started to move the ball on offense. That really helped us out today." The G-Unit put handcuffs on the Warrior offensive stars. The G Unit was able to hold the domi nant Brandon Ross to only nine points in the game. G-Unit was also able to get its offense clicking on all cylinders. Valario Bethec led the charge with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Rob Johnson also had a great game for the second straight week. He finished with 15 points, three rebounds and two steals. Warrior coach Mark Rave added: "My boys were a little tired Photo by Anthony Hill Adrian "A.D." Rice hangs on the goal after a pregame dunk. and lackadaisical today. They played pretty lethargic. I tried to put my younger group in but they didn't have it today either. Today was just a rough day for us." The most devastating part of the Warriors' loss was that they had chances to win in the fourth quarter. The team was down by five points and proceeded to miss their next five out of six free throws. "That was real devastating." Raye said. "We've got to hit free throws and play defense. We're a great team. We just didn't have it today. Next week, we hope to get back to winning." Seminole* 39, State Property 38: For the second week, the Seminoles played the closest game on the weekend. The Semi noles. coached by former New York Knick player Luther Burden. somehow found a way to win another close game. ? The Seminoles were led by DeVaun Hairston, who finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Mike Brown led the team in scor ing with 13 points on the day. Cory Barber and Ronald Briston contributed seven rebounds apiece. "The Senlinoles are surprising a lot of teams this year," McCorkle said. "People keep on underestimating them, and they keep on winning." 14- 18-year-olds League Standings ( Week 4) And I Classic 4-0 Seminoles 3- 1 G-Unit 2-2 Warriors 1 -3 Rams 1-3 State Property I -3 NEST NEIGHBOR HOOD ENRICHMENT STARTS TODAY Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County would like to thank those individuals, corporations, foundations and churches who contributed to the NEST Initiative in 2003.
