B, Winston Salem, passed away Manrh 20 at Wake Forest University Baptist Med ical Center. She was bom in Barnwell County. S.C., on March 23, 1925, to Williams and Fannie Smith. Annie was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church and touched the lives of many. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother. She was preceded in death by her husband. Isaac Baxley; her par ents, Williams and Fannie Smith; and a son, Calvin Smith. He was the firstborn child of Stephen and Annie Mae Brown (on Oct. 17, 1938). He was a member of St. Peter's World Outreach Center and a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He is survived by: his wife of 40 years. Margie F. Brown; a daugh ter, Tamara E. Harris of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren. Shannon M. George of the U.S. Army, Shane Hairston of the U.S. Army, Dani Marie Hairston of Martinsville. Va.. and Jasmine A. Smith and Marcia A. Mims of Winston-Salem; a great-granddaughter, Zaire of Mar tinsville, Va.: his mother. Annie Mae Brown; two sisters. FUIELL Mrs. Mildred Louis Fuiell, 2884 Piedmont Circle, Winston-Salem, passed away March 21 at Wake Forest University Medical Center. She was born May 2. 1921, to the late Millard and Beatrice Speas. She was retired from N.C. Baptist Hospital. Mildred was a member of Mercy Seat Holiness Church. Mildred leaves to cherish her memories: six daughters, Dorothy Wilson, Olivia (Roper) Little, Diann (Clinton) Thomas, Vemell Jones, Audrey McKay and Shona (Talmadge) Baldwin, and a special grand daughter whom she raised, Pamela (Wade) Pinkney: two sons, Abron Fuiell and Michael (Janice) Fuiell, all of Winston-Salem; four sisters and one brother, Irene Cheeseborough, Evella Williams. Teretha Trib ble, Minnip (Arthur) Shields, and Villus Speas, all of Winston Salem; 35 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchil dren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Russell Funeral Home directors were in charge of the arrangements. HARRIS o Mr. Claude Lee Harris Jr., 4252 Cody Drive. Winston-Salem, passed away March 25 al Kate Bitting Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Nov. 24, 1955, in Winston-Salem to the late Claude Lee Harris Sr. and Annie Vance Harris. Claude was a graduate of Park land High School and attended Forsyth Technical Institute. He was of the Seventh-Day Adventist denomination and enjoyed studying the Bible. He was employed by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Cen ter as a PTO technician for 14 years. He was previously employed for 12 years by the Marriott Corp., located in the Wachovia Building. Claude was well loved by patients and co-workers for his words of encouragement. He was preceded in death by his brother. Robert Harris. Claude is survived by: his wife of 20 years, Doris Green Harris; three sons, Andre Crawford, Claude Lee Harris III and Dalton Chandler Har ris; a grandson, Delvin Deer; a sirter. He was bom July 13, 1956, in Washington, D.C., to Samuel and Delores Crump Humes. He was a graduate of Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C., in 1 966. Kevyn relocated to the Winston-Salem area in 1996 and worked for the City of Winston-Salem/Sanitation Depart ment. Mourning his departure yet cherishing his fond, sweet memories are: his mother. She was bom July 5, 1956, to Connie Durant Stephens and lynis Stephens. Carmen attended Paisley High School and was a former employee of Stratford Die Casting. She really enjoyed her life, her fam ily, and spending time with her friends. She touched many lives as she walked through this life. Carmen was loved by many and will be missed very much. She was preceded in death by her father, Tyrus Stephens; her grand father, John A. Stephens; and her uncle Memphis Stephens. She was bom June 5. 1930, in Winston-Salem to Elder Willie M. and Bessie Campbell Miles. She was educated in the local public schools. She worked as a domestic for a number of years for the Barnes family. Later she was employed at Wake Forest University, where she retired. Mother Miles was an active member of the Macedonia Worship Center, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board, Mother's Board and Sunday school. She loved people and people loved her! She will be greatly kissed by all who knew hef. She was preceded in death by two children and her parents. She leaves to mourn: two loving and devoted sisters, Calberta M. Wis? of Winston-Salem and Rosa Lee Smalls of-Bennettsville, S.C.; a very special'tiiece, Sharell Patterson; two great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Mitchell, and two brothers, Johnell and Connell Mitchell. Linda is survived by: two sons, Billy Carter of Winston-Salem and John Carter Jr. of Fort Wayne. Ind.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Mitchell of Malta, 111., and Kathy Mitchell-LeBlanc of Balti more. "Chil dren are an inheritance of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is hjs reward." Contestants were: Shaunetta Campbell; daughter of William and Shanna Campbell; Brianna Lowery. daughter of Elder Ken neth and Clarissa Lowery; Gabrielle Oldham, daughter of Deacon Michael and Minister Nina Oldham; Sarah Paige, daughter of Elder Ronald and Vanessa Paige: and Tabitha Pankey. daughter of Elder and Debra Pankey. Escorting the contestants were Simon Danzy. Timothy Paige. Joshua Oldham. Daniel Paige and Paris Harris, respectfully. The contestants modeled leisure and formal attire. In the talent portion of the pageant. Shaunetta Campbell recited poetry. Brianna Lowery played a recorder. Gabrielle Old ham did a spiritually uplifting dance of praise. Sarah Paige pre sented a dramatization of Psalm Sarah Paigm, Junior Miu Mt. Sinai 2004 1 2 1 and Tabitha Pankey did a car dio workout of jump rope, hula hooping and steppin'. However, this was not just a fund raiser, talent or fashion show as each contestant also performed community service and wrote an essay titled "The Importance of a Christian life." The apex of the evening was the crowning of Junior Miss Mount Sinai 2(X)4, Pastor Yvonne Mines, announced the winner's name and placed the crown on the head of Sara Paige. The first runner-up was Shaunetta Campbell. After the crowning ceremony, contestants serenaded the audi ence with a dedication song titled "People Need the Lord." Each pageant participant exhibited poise, grace, and talent. Each also expressed an under standing of the Christian spirit and expounded on this knowledge through composition. This experi ence will undoubtedly help them to grow in Christ and to develop into well rounded young women. The Junior Miss Pageant was supported by the Nurses Board, under the direction of Vanessa Paige: the talented Pankey sisters: the gospel group Ecclesia: and the auxiliaries of Mount Sinai Full Gospel Deliverance Center.
