_____ _____ . ? ? T The reason why we praise Lesson Scripture: Revelation 19: 5-10 Lesson Aims: to explain why believers praise Him daily, to encourage others during dark days, and to rec ognize that our praise is a lifestyle. Background: After the ? sixth seal was opened God I provided John with an inter ? lude (last week's lesson). The pause revealed that all of God's people received a mark that guaranteed pro tection of their souls. Chapter eight opened with the seventh seal being bro ken. A half hour of silence occurred before John saw the seven angels with seven ? trumpets. The cosmic upheaval continued when those trumpets were sound ed.(chapters eight and nine). A second interlude hap pened next in chapters 10 and 1 1 . During this pause the apostle was instructed to eat a little scroll that would be sweet in his mouth but will sour his stomach. Two witnesses (Moses and Elijah) were slain by the beast and brought back to life after three days. The seventh trumpet (11:15) sounded "announcing the beginning of Christ's reign on earth" (Scofield Study Bible). ' Praises went up! Chapters 1 2 and 1 3 recorded a woman giving birth to a man child that God snatched up to the Throne. The evil beasts were revealed. In Mildred Peppers Sunday School Lesson chapter 14 the third inter lude was followed by seven bowls of wrath (15:1 16:21). The "great whore/prostitute" was rid ing the scarlet beast. She was defeated (Armageddon) never to rise again in chap ters 17 thru 18. The world agonized over her destruc tion while God's people rejoiced! Lesson: The praises of ?he multitude go up as they rejoice in Babylon's (Rome's) demise. They sing Hallelujah (Alleluia) ? the highest praise to God! The 24 elders and the four living creatures join in. There are actually four Hallelujahs (verses 1 .3.4. and 6). God is victorious over evil: His kingship isn't questioned. It is nuu lime for the wedding of the Lamb with His faith ful followers - the church. This is the final banquet! The "fine linen" worn by the bride represents righteous ness* and the salvation from Christ. The bride arrayed in "her" best (because of Jesus) is reunited with God! Application: We received the Great Invitation centuries ago (Matthew 11:28). Followed by Matthew 22:37-40, we were given the right attitude in the Great Commandment. Those that accepted the invitation must love, note the order. Finally the Great Commission is bestowed upon us in Matthew 29:19. 20 setting forth the standard of service. Initially we can't see the end but today's les son makes the reward plain. At the banquet with the Bridegroom, the devil has been defeated and the bride (church) is together once again with God. Did you RSVP? Did you accept the invitation? Did you keep the faith? The banquet will be splendid!! ? Ministries hits th^r streets with a mission SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Pastor Barry Washington, ??
