PHA Jurisdiction of North
Carolina held their 46th
Annual Christmas Banquet
and Awards Gala on Dec. 2 at
the Hawthorne Inn.
The Mistress of Ceremony
was Past Matron Lam Dillard.
Brother Scott Abdul-Salaam
gave the welcome with the
response given by the 30th
District Grand Lecturer Myra
Clinton. Grace and invoca
tion were given by Brother
John Lash. Sr.,
Worshipful Master of
Salem Lodge #139 PHA. P.M.
Gwendolyn Joyner presented
star awards to P.M. Shirley
Cheeks; P.M. Audrey D.
Jones; P.M. Lam Dillard and
Past Worshipful Master Willie
McMoore, Olympic Lodge
#795, who is also a Chapter
Brother. All were honored for
outstanding contributions to
the Eastern Star organization
and their community for many
years. The speaker was
Lafayette A. Wilson, a certi
fied lay speaker of the United
Methodist Church District and
Conference. He was intro
duced' by his wife, chairper
son of the event, P.M.
Delories Wilson. Wilson's
topic was "Honor, Respect,
and Service." He exhorted
those in attendance to reaffirm
their vows to follow Jesus and
serve the masses. The audi
ence was attentive and enthu
siastic.
Music was provided by
Ricky McKinney, minister of
music, Goler Memorial
A.M.E. Zion Church.
A special musical selection
was rendered by Sydnie N.
Rogers, accompanied by her
mother Lisa J. Rogers and
brother, Brandon M. Rogers.
The event was supported by

Eagle Scout award

Carlton L. Jones Jr.
received his Eagle Scout
Award in a ceremony at the
Quality Inn & Suites. Jones is
a member of troop 844, and is
a Pre Engineer student at
Atkins High School, where he
plays varsity basketball.
Troop 844 meets at the
Burning Flame Christian
Church.
His project was to build
several bird houses and locate
them throughout the Winston
Lake grounds, naming them
Mo Lucas Estate and Jones
Condo Homes.

Napoleon Crowell, Jr.
