Mae was born October 24, 1928
in Clemmons NC to the late

was a faithful
member of

Grove AME
Zion Church
until her
health started

Mrs.
Conrad was
preceded in death by her hus
band, Walter L<ee Conrad; two
sons, Leroy Thomas Imes and
Norman Wesley Imes; two sis
ters, Annie Carter and Elizabeth
Parks; five brothers, James
Imes, Clarence Imes, Everett
Imes, Elbert Imes and Charlie
Imes.

ish her memories seven grand
children: Elanda (Darryl)
Starnes. Norman Imes Jr. ,
Kelvin Imes , Elizabeth Imes,
Michael (Darr) Imes Matthew
(Chrystal) Imes, Ebony Stewart
sixteen great-grandchildren, one
great great grandchild, two spe
cial daughters-in-law. Ruth Imes
and Sandra Perry; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were held
on Saturday, March 29th at 1:30
PM on Hickory Grove AME
Zion Church with Rev. Robert
H. Bailey, officiating. Interment
was in the church cemetery.

Piney Grove Baptist Church
with the Rev. James Linville
officiating. Interment was in

1936, to
Joseph and
Lucille Pitt
in Halifax
County.
She attended the public
schools in Raleigh and gradu
ated from Washington High
before moving to Greensboro
with her family. While in
Greensboro, she attended and
graduated from the School of
Stenography in 1955. She
spent the majority of her
Working career at
Southeastern Soda Shop in the
Southeastern Building on Elm
Street. Affectionately known
by her family and many
friends as "Fat," she was best
known for her chicken-and
rice soup.
She was a member of
Whosoever Will Baptist
Church, where she accepted
Jesus Christ as her Lord and
Savior. The Rev. Larry Foust
is pastor. She was preceded in
death by her parents; a sister,
Josephine Williams; and a
brother, James E. Pitt.
Surviving are a son, Michael
A. (Debra) Pitt of Winston
Salem; two granddaughters.
Jasmine and Jaelynn; two
grandsons, Karl and Kevin of
Greensboro; two sisters,
Gertrude Phillips of Winston
Salem and Patricia (Dennis)
Cunningham of Orlando, Fla.;
two brothers, Clarence
A.(Lydia) Pitt of Jonesville,
Ga., and Ernest H. (Elaine)
Pitt of Winston-Salem; an
aunt, Clara Saxon of
Washington, D.C.; and a host
of nieces, nephews, great
nieces and great-nephews and
friends.
Funeral services were con
ducted at noon on Tuesday,
April 8, in the chapel of
Hargett Funeral Home in
Greensboro on East Market
Street, with the Rev. Foust
officiating. Burial services
followed at Maplewood
Cemetery. There was a view
ing at the chapel from 11 a.m.
to noon, on the day of the
service. On one on Monday,
April- 7 at Russell Funeral
Home in Winston-Salem. The
family had visitation from 7
to 9 on Monday night at the
home.
Services were done by
Russell Funeral Home.

was born to the late Estelle
Stewart Hammond and Joe
Wilson in Lancaster, S.C. on
October 17, 1927.
He attended the local pub
lie schools of Lancaster. He
moved to Winston-Salem,
N.C. as a young man and
began working for the RJ
Reynolds Tobacco Company
During his 35-year tenure
with RJ Reynolds, he met and
married his loving wife of 50
years Fronnie Mae Thomas
Stewart.
Serving the Lord through
his membership at Emmanuel
Baptist Church, William was
known for preparing delicious
meals for many church and
family gatherings. He served
on the Trustee Board, the
Kitchen Committee and the
Spiritual Choir. He enjoyed
telling jokes, attending family
reunions, traveling to "Camp
Meeting" in Lancaster, and
most of all hearing good
preaching and singing.
Papa" was considered a fam
ily and community historian
as his recollection of people
and events was remarkable!
He truly loved his family and
his church!
He was preceded in death
by his parents and son,
William Wayne Stewart. He
leaves to cherish his memory
his wife, Fronnie T. Stewart;
his legacy lives on through his
sons, Richard E. (Manya)
Stewart, Kenneth L. Stewart
(Ruby Ingram); grandchil
dren, Tonya Stewart (Randall
) McCray, William "Man"
Stewart, II, Johnetta and Billy
Stewart, Angela Richardson,
Scott, Brandon, and
