McClain honored for service SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The Rotary Club of Clemmons presented Bill McClain, the youth services coordinator for the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem, with its Community Service Award during the organiza tion's June 18 awards banquet at Bermuda Run Country Club. This award is given annual ly to a person in the communi ty who has exhibited excellent leadership skills, high ethics and a rousing motivation to help better the community. McClain has assisted the Clemmons Rotary Club with its "Hand-in-Hand" project, which takes place each December when buses pick up about 250 children from the housing authority youth cen ters. The young people jire served dinner, entertained with a Christmas program, treated to a visit to the famed Festival of Lights program at Tanglewood Park and then presented with a shopping bag of gifts. Keith Michael Davis, a minister who attends Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, at its 11 ajn. service on Sunday, July 27. Davis is the sixth of seven children or Andrew Bubble Davis and Odessa Abernathy Davis. After grad uating from East Forsyth High School, he Davis earned an associate s degree in food service management from Wilkes Community College. He has also received certification as a food service specialist. Rev. Davis was called to preach in 1991. He currently serves at Goler Metropolitan, where the Rev. Dr. Roy Swann is pastor. Davis was ordained a deacon on Sept. 23, 2007 in Black Mountain by Bishop George Washington Carver Sr., of the Western North Carolina Conference. He is a traveling minister of the Winston-Salem District, were the Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller is the presiding elder. Rev. Davis is a student at Livingstone College and a securi ty officer at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Faith Unity is located at 1025 E. 14th Street in the chapel of the Masonic Lodge Prince Hall. The host pastor is Nathaniel R J. Williams Jr., and the associate pastor is Wanda H. Williams. The public is invited to attend the serv ice.
