The city's annual Kwanzaa festivities kicked off last Friday night at the Winston-Salem Urban League's downtown headquarters. Attendees enjoyed music, dance and fellowship. Starting the weeklong cultural celebration at the Urban League is a long-standing tradition. The Urban League Young Professionals, Triad Cultural Arts and the National Association for Black Veterans sponsored the event. Johnathan Sadler, president of the Young Professionals, hosted the eveining.
