Salem Academy -and College
will host an interfaith worship serv
ice to celebrate black heritage
through readings, prayers and
music today (Feb. 5) at 4: 15 p.m.
in the Shirley Recital Hall of the
Salem Fine Arts Center. Various
forms of spirituality and faith in the
black tradition will be highlighted.
It is sponsored by the Chaplain's
Office and BADl' (Black
Americans Demonstrating Unity).
It is free and open to the public.

Weekend for males

Outreach Center and the Men's
Network, will host a men's
"Healing & Deliverance Weekend
Encounter," Feb. 6-8 at the church.

This network specifically focus
es on the needs of today's males of
all backgrounds and cultures The
event will begin on Friday. Feb. 6 at
7 p.m. and continue on Saturday,
Feb. 7 with morning and evening
sessions, and end Sunday (Feb. 8)

1984. He was recently
elected president of the
Ministers Conference of

Vicinity. He has long been
active in local, state and
national issues of social and
economic justice, and civil
and human rights. In 2007,
he was inducted into the
Martin Luther King Jr.
Board of Preachers at
Morehouse College in
Atlanta, and he is a past
recipient of the Winston
Salem Chronicle's Man of
the Year award.
