Local members recognized at NCNW Coalition in Durham The Ninth Annual North Carolina Stale Coalition of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. held its Bethune Recognition pro gram on Saturdav. June 27 at the Sheraton RIP Hotel and Convention Center in Durham under the theme. "Coming Together To Make A Difference.' The Durham Section of the organization, fed bv Edna L Tilus. hosted the event. EJi/aheth Jones served as chairperson: Louise W. Weeks and Sharlene Lee were co-chairpersons. Winston-Salem resident Dr. Manderline Scales made presentations to several; members including Bethune Achiever Jean Moses-Petree and Wilhelmina B Long of Winston-Salem, Petree serves the Winston-Salem Section as the recording secretary and as the NCNW Slate Coalition recording secretary. The Wachovia Bank employee is the mother of three adult children. Michael. April and Johnny, and the wife of Teddy W. Petree Sr. Her extended family includes four more adult children. She is an active member of the Rising Ebeaezer Baptist Church, where the minister is the Rev William C Brown Long was honored w ith a Silver Achiever Award. She has served as an educator for more than 38 years in both North Carolina and Brooklyn. N Y.
