The project consists of:
Two buildings, the Career Center and the
Career Tech Building
The Career Center is approximately 145,000
SF of new instruction, three stories with
Administrative office, classrooms, kitchen sci
ence labs, as well as other specialty classrooms
The basic materials are brick veneer, steel
frame structural system. There is also labora
tory casework in science labs and plastic lam
inate casework throught.
The Career Tech Building is approximately
60,000 SF of new construction. It is masonry
bearing with brick veneer. It has specialty
shops such as carpentry, automobile technolo
gy, automotive collision, and aviation as well
as basic classroom spaces.
Both buildings roof systems are on open web
joists with adhered single ply membrane on
ngid insulation.
The buildings are sprinkled. Mechanical
System: Water source heat pump
Approximately 1 2 acres of sitework includes:
site grading, site utilities, road and parking tot
asphalt paving, curb/guttering, concrete side
walks. landscaping and exterior signage.
Bids will be received for Single Prime
Contracts only. All proposals shall be lump
sum.
A mandatory pre"-bid meeting will be held for
all interested bidders and vendors on
December 2, 2009 at 10:00am at the existing
Kennedy Middle School auditorium. Project
specific questions, bidding procedures, pre
ferred brand alternates, performance specifica
tions and HUB information will be addressed
for this project .

Qualified Prime Contractors may obtain a
maximum of two copies of the Bidding
Documents after November 16, 2009 in the

deposit of three hundred fifty dollars
($350.00), per set, in cash or certified check.
The full plan deposit will be returned only to
prime contractors submitting bids provided all
documents are returned in good condition
within ten ( 10) days after the bid date. No par

the use of incomplete sets of Bidding

All contractors are hereby notified that they
must have proper license as required under the
state laws governing their respective trades.
NOTE: The bidder shall identify on its bid
proposal the minority business participation it
will use on the project. Forms are included
within the Proposal Form in the bid docu
ments. Failure to complete these forms is
grounds for rejection of the bid. (GSI43
128.2c Effective 1/1/2002.)
Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash
deposit or a certified check drawn on a bank or
trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to
not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal,
or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond
of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a
surety company licensed under the laws of
North Carolina to execute the contract in
accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit
shall be retained by the owner as liquidated
damages in event of failure of the successful
bidder to execute the contract within ten days
after the award or to give satisfactory surety as
required by law.
A performance bond and a payment bond will
be required for one hundred percent ( 100%) of
the contract price.
Payment will be made based on ninety-five
percent (95%) of monthly estimates and final
payment made upon completion and accept
ance of work.
No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled
closing time for the receipt of bids for a period
of 60 days
The owner reserves the right to reject any or all
