The Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc. held its annual Achievement
Week Awards Program at SciWorks science
center on Nov. 1 1 .
Assistant Police Chief Brother Barry
Rountree presented a proclamation to the
Chapter Basileus Brother John P. Card Jr. on
behalf of the City of Winston-Salem and the
Mayor's Office that acknowledged the men
of Omega Psi Phi and their effort to help
build a strong and vibrant community.
Several Omega men were presented
awards by the chapter for their exceptional
service and for upholding the highest stan
dards of the fraternity with selfless sacrifice.
Brother Wayne Hosch received the
Manhood Award; Brother Michael Magruder
received the Scholarship Award: Brother
Billy D. Friende Jr. received the
^Perseverance Award: Brother Kenneth
Francis received the Uplift Award; Brother
Ernest Bowers received the Colonel Charles
Denton Young Military Leadership Award;
I
Brother Raphael O. Black received the
Founders Award; Brother Mark Oliver
received the Superior Service Award; and
Brother Charlie W. Bethea received the
Omega Man of the Year Award. This year's
selection for the Citizen of the Year award
was 'NBA star Chris Paul, whose father,
Charles Paul, accepted the award on his
behalf.
The chapter and the community enjoyed
an outstanding program as a result of the
hardworking Achievement Week Committee,
led by Brother James Franklin Jr. This year,
the program was held jointly with the
Brothers of Mu Epsilon Chapter of Winston
Salem State University, which is headed by
Chapter Basileus Chris Lee. who presented
the awards to his chapter's recipients.
Several young men from the undergradu
ate chapter were recognized for their service
and devoliDn to the chapter, campus and
local community. The fraternity wishes to
thank the community for their support this
year and the award recipients for all their
hard work.
