Bone could add another soccer honor f CHRONICLE STAFF REPORT Wake Forest junior midfielder Corben Bone will find out on on Jan. 8 if he is the win ner of the presti gious 2009 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy. Bone is one of three final ists for the honor, which will be pre sented in St. Louis at the Missouri Athletic Club. Andre Ak pan of Harvard and Teal Bunbury of Akron are also contenders. The three finalists were chosen Bone out of a group of 15 semifi nalists. A native of Piano, Texas, Bone is looking to become the sec ond straight Wake Forest player to claim the award. Last year, the Deacs had two of three finalists, including Marcus Tracy, who became the first Wake olaver to win the award. Sam Cronin was also a finalist. The 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Bone has scored two goals and added 13 assists during his junior season. Bone ranks eighth nationally in assists per game and is second in the ACC in helpers. Bone, who was named Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Year in 2009. has 38 assists in his career, ranking him second in school histo ry. He also is in the top 10 in school annals in points with 66 career points. Considered the highest individual honor in college soccer, the recipient of the Hermann Trophy is selected by Division 1 head coaches who are current members of the NSCAA.
