Network names Tuskegee's Hannah D-II player the year SPfcCIAl U) IHI CHRONICU Justin Hannah, a comer back for the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers, was named the Division 11 National Player of the Year by the Heritage Sports Radio Network fan poll. The network reported, "Tuskegee voters must be commended for an overwhelming support effort." resulting in 185,951 votes. "I feel blessed .However, there were 10 other players involved." he said about J he Golden Tiger defense. '"They had good pressure up front." This season, Hannah, a senior majoring in biology from Birmingham. Ala., fin ished with 44 tackles, five passes broken up and three interceptions, w ith one returned for a touchdown. Hannah's other accom plishments this year include: Three-time First Team AN SI AC (2007, 2008. 200V); First Team Pre-Season All Justin Hannah SIAC; D2Fixitball.com All SIAC Pre-Season Team; voted by coaches as the SIAC Co defensive Player of the Year: named to the Daktronics All Super Region 2 Second Team: SIAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 10); National Division II Player of the Week by HRSN; Second Team, Boxtorow.com/BASN All American team as chosen by selected media that cover black college football; and recorded 18 career intercep tions with three returned for touchdowns. Hannah has been selected as the SI AC Player of the Year by the Pigskin Club of Washington, D.C. He will receive the Oliver M. Thompson -Award on Jan. 15, 2010 Golden Tigers head coach Willie Slater, who was selected as S1AC Coach of the Year by the organisation, will receive the Charles B. Fisher Award. The Golden Tigers won 42 games, lour conference cham pionships and one HBCU national championship during Hannah's career. They also had a 26-game winning streak. Somehow, 1 guess, I got over the fact that Michael Jackson became a White guy 'who had White kids. 1 now kind of think of him as two guys. The young Black kid and the old. White weirdo. But his dying so sudden ly has sort of allowed me to forgive him for all of his weirdness. Because light or dark, his talent was phenom enal.
