NYC trip
Alpha & Omega Church is
sponsoring a trip to New York

Film puts twist on story
of the Prodigal Son

"The Preacher's Kid." a new Warner Bros.
Studio film, is being billed as a modern
retelling of the ageless parable of the Prodigal
Son. The movie will open in selected cities on
Jan. 29 and possibly expand to other markets
soon after that.
Written and directed by Stan Foster, the
film stars singer LeToya Luckett as Angie
King, a 20-someJhing daughter of a minister
who, longing to experience more of life and
with dreams of fame and fortune, strikes out
on her own for the very first time, joining a
traveling gospel show. She soon discovers,
though, that life on the road is tough, and she
fears going home with nothing to show for
herself.
The film marks the movie debut for
Luckett, a co-founder of Destiny's Child who
scored a #1 solo CD with "Lady Love."
Preacher's Kid also stars singers Trey Songz,
Tank Babbs and Kierra KiKi Sheard.
Foster's credits include helming "Bishop
T.D. Jakes" "Woman, Thou Art Loosed."

Jesus Shows Himself Through Prayer
Lesson Scripture: Matthew
II 25-30
Lesson Aims: To explain the
major parts of Jesus' prayer; to accept
that God's Ways are not like ours; and
to seek the power to model after
Jesus.
Background: As evidence of
Jesus' identity mounts, the people
still didn't believe He had shown His
power over nature, demons, and dis
ease. nothing satisfied them! Yet.
they continued to bring their sick to
be healed. The people were expecting
the Messiah to deliver them from
Roman control. For most, this was
the basis for their rejection. Jesus was
using His power to heal humanit\ 's
hurts, sicknesses.' and disappoint
ments. Even John the Baptist was
confused! Jesus answered John's dis
ciples by pointing out His actions and
reminding them of the things prophe
sied by Isaiah (29:18-21: 35:5-6: and
61:1). Turning to the people as John's
disciples left. He referred to him
(John) as the greatest of the prophets.
Jesus continued to speak to the crowd
about their unbelief. The\ were com
pared to children who couldn't make
up their minds what to believe. You
see. the people felt that John was too
harsh and Jesus too gentle. Then He
issued a series of woes on three cities
where He ministered - Kora/in.

Disciples' was held on Jan.
9, Youths from 8 to 15 took,
part in the Biblical train
ing. "wfcich places emphasis
on learning how to
respect God's house;
respect one's self; and how
to accept responsibility
from parents.
The young people were
also taught the importance
of controlling what they
say; praying daily, elimi
nating self-pity, overcom
ing fear, and learning basic
social graces.

Church holds spirit-filled Summit

Holy Trinity l-ull Gospel Baptist Church
recently hosted a three-day Kingdom
Building Summit. It revolved around the
concept of "Becoming Steadfast in the Lord
While His Glor\ is Being Manifested in our
Lives" and featured nightly topics that pon
dered the idea Summit topics included
"God's Requirement for Fruitful Liung" nnd
"Security from Yesterday for Tomorrow and
Today." c '
Holy Trinity Pastor Richard Miller and
Co-Pastor Ernsrine Miller encouraged""
Summit attendees to make God the top prior
ity in their lives and to earnestly seek Him
with a whole hearted passion and to obey
His commands.
Each attendee was also encouraged to not
fear or be intimidated, and to know that
everyone was given the victory by God
through Jesus Christ
The Summit ended on Sunday. Jan 10
with a powerful Consecration and
Dedication Service, featuring Prophet
Clifton Sawyer and the Cornerstone Church
family of Greensboro Saw\er spoke of the
God side and the fleshly side of man He
referred to the fleshly side as a "monkey -
brain," and discussed how" Christians have to
stop allowing the "monkey" to control them
At the end of the service. Pastor Miller led
all the leaders of the ministry through a con
secration and dedication pledge Each leader
renewed his or her dedication to the ministry
The Millers lead the crowd in prayer.
