Gra\ is the host pastor Peppers frxmt pane B.I wanted them to be spiritual ly fit for the days ahead Lesson: Beginning in Isaiah 52 and 53. we get a glimpse of the "Suffering Servant." The suffering will be physical and men tal. Isaiah 53:3 states that He will be despised and rejected by men Christ suffered while He complet ed His mission: therefore should His followers expect anything less? When Paul pens this letter he goes straight to the point Persecution is a fact but be encouraged Oduring the process. The apostle thanks God for their spiri tual maturity and love for one another Despite all that is going on. they don't turn on each other. He even brags about them to the other churches. Their maturity indicates their faith and trust in God which will inspire others Their "fitness" and faith enables them to endure. How did this "fitness" come about? Paul acknowledges their prayer life, their commit ment to embrace the "Good News:" and their practiced love for one another. What about their persecutors? Paul addresses their future in verses 6-4 God will bring relief to ihose perse cuted and judgement upon those who reject Him. In the end when Jesus returns, the wicked will be punished (everlasting destruction) while the faithful will be with Him forever Application: It is important for believers to remember that every day of our lives speaks to our beliefs Yes. it is very easy to be a Christian when times are good. But every day doesn't happen that way. Then what? As a Christian (Christ-like), we must accept that hardship will come but our responses to them arc more important. There is a war going ori here and being fit is para mount! Our fitness is a spiritual one. We must know the Word of God and trust in it1 God is love therefore to be His. we must, practice that love This is not a Sunday activi ty but a 24 7 one Do we bring glory to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost .' Do we try our best to live up to His stan dards ' Ho our lives repre sent lo\c and purpose' God wants our li\es not our trinkets He is there lor us in all situations Trust and live for Him today ! A.
