Winston-Salem State University to celebrate Founder's Day Oct. 22 Speaker Dr. Charles Love is a WSSU alumnus SFBC1AL lo IH1 c HKOMCLfc Dr. C harles Love, dean of the School of Education at the University of South Carolina Upstate, will serve as the guest speaker for the 2010 Founder's Day Convocation at Winston Salem State University (WSSU) on Fridav, Oct. 22 at 9:45 a.m. in the K R Williams Auditorium on campus. Love has been dean of the School of Education at South Carolina I'pxtate since July 1999, and has more than quadrupled the external funding of that school. In addition to his duties as dean, he occasion ally teaches classes in edu cational curriculum issues and school leadership. Prior to his current role, he held positions in higher education at Albany State University. Georgia College & State University, Grambling State University and Johnson C. Smith University. Love also served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and in administration with the pub lic schools in Charlotte, N.C., as well as serving as director of Student Information and Management for the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. An alumnus of Winston Salem State University with a B.S. degree in elementary education. Love earned his master's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and a specialist degree in educational administration from Appalachian State University. He earned his doctorate degree in educa tional administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Love serves in numerous positions with the National Council for the Accreditation Teacher Education and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Teacher Educators. He also serves orr the Board of Visitors at WSSU. Also as part of Founder's Day, there will be the tradi tional wreath laying ceremo ny at' Dr. Atkins' statue on campus at 8:45 a.m. prior to the convocation.
