Michael Russell WSSU hosting free minority supplier event SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Michael Russell, CEO of one of the nation's largest African American construc tion com panies, and State Treasurer Janet Cowell will serve as keynote speakers for the Second CowtU Annual Minority Construction and Supplier Outreach Event on Friday, May 18 on the cam pus of Winston-Salem State University. "Building Lasting Relationships - the Next Level" is hosted by the UNC System Triad Coalition. The event provides an opportuni ty for agencies, companies, contractors and subcontrac tors to meet each other and to meet with representatives from Winston-Salem State, the University of North Carolina Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University. The session will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the McNeil Banquet Hall of the Anderson Conference Center at WSSU. The event is free, but regis tration is requested at http://triadcoalition.eventbrit e.comI. Russell became CEO of H. J. Russell & Company in 2004, when his father and company founder handed over the leadership to his children. For over 50 years, the com pany has been a leader in the construction and real estate development industry and is the largest Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) real estate firm in the country. Headquartered in Atlanta, some of the company's major projects include the Coca Cola headquarters, the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena. The UNC System Triad Coalition was developed to create stronger relationships among minority contractors, subcontractors and non minority firms that work with WSSU, UNCG and N.C. A&T. The three schools were recently recog nized for the coalition's work with the HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) Good Faith Efforts Award for the public agency sector at the State Construction Conference in Raleigh.
