Wellness Fair aims to keep everyone healthy

Praise Assembly Church Ministries' Women of Grace will host
a Health, Wellness and Fitness Fair on July 7 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
A number of local health agencies will be on hand to offer
screenings, information and consultations. Participants will
include the Winston-Salem State University School of. Health
Sciences, the Winston-Salem Community Care Center, the Susan
B. Komen Foundation, Your Pilate Place and Kid Fit, Inc.
Facials, fitness sessions and activities for kids such as hoola
hooping, face painting and games will also be offered.
Dr. Chere Chase-Gregory, a physician and director of
Neurosciences and Neurocritical Care at Forsyth Medical Center,
will lead an interactive session for women. Dr. Chase-Gregory, a
neurologist who specializes in stroke prevention and care, will
address many of the issues that plague young, middle-aged and
older women.
Dr. Ralph Wall Jr., who has practiced internal medicine for
many years, will address issues that concern men such as prostrate
health, high blood pressure and heart disease.
The event is free and the public is being strongly urged to take
advantage of the services that will be offered. The church is locat
ed at 3254 Kernersville Road.

The officers and members of Morning Star
Missionary Baptist Church recently celebrated Pastor
Dennis Leach Sr. and Rev. Charolette H. Leach, the
church's first lady, for their academic achievements.
Pastor Leach just earned a doctorate degree in
Ministry from Drew University in Madison, NJ. First
Lady Leach received a master's degree in Theology
from Wake Forest University on May 17. The Leaches
arrived at Morning Star in October 2009.

Church's R.I.C.H. CDC held its latest
Sista's Program on Saturday, June 23 at
Breakfasttime Restaurant on Old
Salisbury Road.
The fellowship drew many women,
who discussed issues in their lives and
were encouraged by the others.

programs, including a food pantry, the
M.A.L.E. program, and groups for mar
ried couples, singles, single parents and
youths.
The Mission of the CDC is to Re
invest, Improve lives and Create Hope by
providing mentoring, educational and
substantial support groups.

Robe dedication to include old school gospel concert
SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE
After celebrating its third anniver
sary on Sunday, June 3 before a
capacity crowd at Galilee Missionary
Baptist Church, Willie Mason and
Friends will hold a ceremony on
Sunday, July 8 at 4 p.m., to dedicate
the choir's new robes. The ceremony
will take place at St. John CME
Church, 350 N.W. Crawford
Place. The red, gray and silver
accented robes were designed by
Jocephus Originals of Burlington.
Following the dedication ceremo
ny, a community choir made up of
local residents will perform an inspi
rational concert of "old school"
gospel music from the '60s to
'90s. The choir will feature the music
gifts of Ministers of Music David L.
Allen Sr., F. Logan Reynolds Jr. and
Dr. George A. Pass II, along with a
host of other gifted musicians.
Rev. Dr. Edward E. Thomas is the
host pastor and Merideth Reid is the
host minister of music. All are invited
to attend.

Holiness Church will host its
18th Annual Graduate Award
and Recognition Service on
Sunday, July 8 at 4 p.m.
Minister Jacqueline Grant,
pastor of Mt. Horeb Holiness
Church in Bronx, N.Y., will
deliver the message. The
Education Department will
recognize and honor students
who are graduating from all
levels of education and those
who have overcome signifi
cant challenges during the
past academic year.

Scholarship Fund.
ShaKayla will also receive
a scholarship from Crosby
Scholars. She will attend St.
Augustine's College this fall
to major in social work.
Lakeshia will attend Forsyth
Tech Community College,
where she will enroll in the
Forsyth Tech/Winston-Salem
State University Dual
Admission program. She is
gifted in art and fashion
design and plans to major in
art psychology.
Grant accepted the call to
ministry in 1979 at the age of
20 and preached her first ser
mon, "When you've tried
everything, Try Jesus."
She graduated from
Bethel Bible Institute and
Tabernacle Bible Institute in
Jamaica, NY. She was mar
ried to the late Elder Keith
Grant and has three children.
Grant is a supervisor with the
NYC Human Resource
Administration and has a pas- -
sion and gift of ministering to
young people.
The theme for the service
is "Mustard Seed Faith." The
young people of the church
will be in charge of the serv
ice. Everyone is invited to
attend. The church is located
1640 S.M. Caesar Drive.
