Armenta Adams Dumisani I
(formerly Hummings) was honored in 2007 during the centennial
celebration of the Julliard School as one of their 100 Most Outstanding
Graduates. She is deeply grateful for the community support for the
Gateways Music Festival (www.gatewaysmusidestival.com), which began
here in Winston-Salem in 1993. "Miss Armenta", as the children call
her, still performs for private gatherings but her attention has turned
to the devastating health problems that affect African Americans. Her
life without either prescription or non-prescription drugs began over
50 years ago. She has lost eighty pounds along the way. Living outside
of the norm requires creativity and an unusual support system, such
as the Pilot Mountain Park Rangers and staff who encourage her
mountain climbing there. Her goal is to climb ML Kilimanjaro in East
Africa in January 2014. Last but not least, she is especially grateful for
the nutritional guidance and alternatives found at the Abundant life
Health Store (located in the Marketplace Mall for the past twenty
eight years). She is willing to share details of any of her journeys in
appropriate settings. Address: P.O. Box 20412, Winston-Salem, North
Carolina 27120. TeL 336-771-0623. Email: armentaadams^beflsouthjieL I
She is a member of the Fulton Family YMCA.
