Human traditions and worldly standards don't measure up to God's truths! Once a person accepts Christ, he or she has all they need to be complete. It is not about the individual anymore. They are authentic! The truths of God don't bind; they liberate. Christ's cir cumcision of the heart far outweighs physical cir cumcision. No longer bound by sin. the believer is empowered to live a life that pleases God! Rituals and asceticism are not required. Paul points out that forgiveness came through Jesus' death on the cross. Needless to say, His death and resurrection made the believer com plete; there is nothing else to do to be in the family. Application: When we accept Christ, we are complete (whole)! Our physical nature has trou ble wrapping its worldly mind around the simple Gospel. Recognizing spiritual maturity is a process based on study, prayer and a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't get caught up in "who is the holiest." None of us are! Concentrate on your relationship with Him as He molds you into His will. False doctrines live today; don't be fooled and get distracted! You are complete when you accept Jesus. AMEN! I 1 UL takes issues to General Assembly SftCIAU IU lilt CHRONICLE The Winston-Salem Urban League took a pro active stance by conduct ing a press conference at the General Assembly on Wednesday, Jan. 30. "When you look at the major issues the state is going to address such as tax reform, job creation, health care exchange pro grams and education reform, these issues over whelmingly affect those we serve," said Urban League President and CEO Keith Grandberry. "It is imperative that we start a positive dialogue about the most effective and positive way to address these issues, better serve our community and move for ward." Guildford County Democrat Rep. Marcus Brandon sponsored the press conference. "Everyone's biggest concern is jobs, and it should be," he said. "I i As Keith Grandherry speaks, (from left) the UL's Patricia Sadler, Rep. Marcus Brandon, Rep. Rodney Moore and Rep. Mecklenburg County Democrat Rep. Rodney Moore and " House Minority Leader Larry Hall, a Democrat who rep resents Durham, were also on .^.hand, Democrats vowed to offer amend ments to the bill that would cut maximum unemployment benefits for future displaced workers. Grandberry said he hoped Democrats and Republicans would come together to expand job training and provide dis placed workers with the skills to find new careers. While North Carolina's employment rate is 9.2 percent, Grandberry said some communities have much higher unemploy ment levels. "It is a very difficult economic time for people right now," he said.
