Logan Burke Foundation created at Carver SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The Logan Burke Academic Foundation has been established at Carver High School. It honors the legacy of the late state representative and community servant. Burke passed away earlier this year. Burke directed his family - including his widow. Mayor Pro Tempore Dr. Vivian Burke, and son, Forsyth County Superior Court Judge Todd Burke - to estab lished the foundation. The family donated $10,000 to establish the foundation. Others have also made contributions in honor of Rep. Burke. The foundation will fund academic growth celebrations for Carver students and provide certificates, academic awards, ribbons and gifts for high-achieving students. "I know the faculty and staff of Carver High school love and support their students," said Mayor Pro Tern Burke. "My family has had a wonderful life, it's Fit ting that we give back to a community that has given us so much. My dear husband loved Carver High School." Judge Burke likes the idea of showing love and support for their good deeds. "I was very blessed as a child. Applications available for Lewisville holiday parade SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The 30th Annual Lewisville Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Lewisville Civic Club, the parade is one of the largest holiday parades in the Triad. Every year, there are more participants and the crowds grow larger, according to Maureen Barton, chair and director of the event. There are floats, dance and drill teams, marching * bands from local high <? schools and lots of candy of all kinds for kids of all ages. Floats will be staged on the Great Wagon Road near the Lowes Foods Shopping Center in Lewisville. The parade route will start on Shallowford Road at the intersection of Shallowford Road and Lewisville Vienna Road and continue on Shallowford Road, turn ing at the Oaks Shopping Center at Williams Road and continuing on Shallowford Road to Belnette Drive and ending at Shallowford Square. Anyone who would like to have a float or march in the parade is asked to con tact the LCC at their web site (www.lewisvillecivic club.com) for rules and reg ulations about participation in the parade as well as the parade application form.
