Composer wins Emmy for 'Twin City' program SPECIAl lo fHBCHRONICLE Joel Everett, who composed and performed the original score for the WSTV 13 production "Merger: waning me iwin City," has received a Regional Emmy from the Nashville/MidSouth Region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Everett was pre sented the Emmy for Music Composer/Arranger at an awards ceremony Jan. 25. "Merger: Making the Twin City" is an hour-long documen tary produced by WSTV 13 for the city's centennial celebra tion in May. It looks at the ori gins of Salem and its theocratic governance; the estab lishment of Winston and its rise as an industrial cen ter; early, failed efforts at consolidation; and the forces that made consolidation inevitable. Everett's original score assigned separate musical themes to represent the towns of Salem and Winston and combined them to musically symbolize their con solidation in 1913. Calling all Powlers BBBS bob to raise $252,000 with fundraiser SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Bowl for Kids' Sake, the annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc. in Forsyth and Davie counties, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m. - noon at the AMF Lanes, 811 Jonestown Rd. More than 1,400 people representing more than 50 area companies and organ izations will bowl during the two-day event. Since 1985, Bowl for Kids' Sake has been held annually in Winston-Salem to raise funds for the men toring programs and serv ices of Big Brothers Big Sisters. The agency's sig nature event, Bowl for Kids' Sake raises more money per capita than any i other Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in the nation. The goal for this year is to raise $252,000.
