Leadership Winston-Salem elects officers and welcomes new board members SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Leadership Winston Salem announced the addi tion of eight new members to the Board of Directors, and the election of officers for 2015-2016. Chairing the Board of Directors is Andrew "Andy" Dreyfuss, Piedmont Angel Network. Other officers include Vice Chair Andrew "Andy" Brown, COR 365; Secretary Kathy Goliszek, Carolina Urological Associates; Treasurer Lisa Venable, DataMax Corp; and immediate past Chair is Dr. D. Kathy Stitts, Winston-Salem State University. Newly appointed board members are Dr. Trae T. Cotton, Winston-Salem State University; Dale "Dek" Driscoll, The Driscoll Group; the Rev. Donald Jenkins, St. Paul United Methodist Church; Joanna Lyall, Wake Forest Baptist Health; Wendy Poteat, Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce; Evan Raleigh. City of Winston-Salem; Claire Tuttle; Community Volunteer; and Brad Zabel, Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County. The Board of Directors acknowledged the contri butions of outgoing board members Linda Jackson Barnes with the Office of the Mayor for her six years of service; Cynthia Charles, secretary for her three years of service ; Bishop J.C. Hash with St. Peter's World Outreach Center for his six years of service; Thomas "Tom" Ingram with Wake Forest Baptist Health for his six years of service; Peter Juran, past board chair for his seven years of service. Dr. Doris P4ez with Forsyth Futures for her five years of service; Vickie Russell with Wake Forest Baptist Health for her three years of service, and Karl Yena for his six years of service. OES chapter awards scholarships SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE ___ Sisters of Bivouac Chapter #530, Order of the Eastern Star's Scholarship Committee awarded two $500 scholar ships to two students in Forsyth County. One scholarship was awarded to Saharia Porter, a 2015 graduate of Carver High School and one to NiGeria Barnes-Johnston, a 2015 graduate of Winston Salem Preparatory Academy. Saharia will be attending Johnson C. Smith University in the fall and NiGeria will be attend ing Forsyth Technical Community College in the fall and then to a four-year accredited college. Sisters of Bivouac Chapter #530, OES, is a Prince Hall Affiliate that strives to better the lives of people in the community through service to others. Under the leadership of Lisa W. Smith as Worthy Matron and David Peay as Worthy Patron, the chapter's theme continues to be "Stars Shining Light Throughout The Community." The chapter provides needed commu nity service to various organizations in the community. "Awarding these scholarships to these deserving young ladies is the uplift the chapter seeks to provide to high school students as they inspire to better themselves as they seek knowledge and further their education, as well as teach them about giving back to others in the community," the chapter said in a statement.
