Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe’ was founded by Charlie and
Virginia Hardesty in 1984. They began their business
selling shrimp out of a truck at Cooks Flea Market in Winston
Salem. In 2012, the couple expanded their third restaurant on
Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., building a 100 seat dining room and
larger parking lot. In 2015 the Winston-Salem City Council
unanimously voted to rename a street Hardesty Lane in honor of
the late founder and owner Charlie Hardesty.
This year Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe Celebrates 32 years of
serving North Carolina! A true building block of
Winston Salem’s Black History.
